Overriding VC data doesn't work at level 0

Hi,
At programming a theater show I came across this issue in 4.12.1/current GIT:
I've programmed a scene already and have it running in a cuelist, the widgets used to set it up are set to zero as this disturbs the cuelist output. The director tells me to remove a channel that's part of the active step of my cuelist, to see if that looks better in his opinion. To achieve this quickly, I'm pulling down the corresponding fader in Simple Desk to bring it down temporarily and, if favoured, later overwrite my active scene with this new value.
Now the issue I'm seeing is: if I pull the fader all he way down to zero, the level from the cuelist reappears on stage.
I know this has worked in the past, it's part of my typical workflow when creating theater shows.
I attach a simple example workspace with instructions toreproduce
