Automated light system using digital or Midi triggers

Hello Folks
I am new to the DMX world and QLC +. and would appropriate some guidance. My goal is to trigger a couple scenes and chaser externally via a digital signal of some sort. My set up is for a cinema house lighting, and there will be no laptop or person. Just 4 contact closer from the projectors. My existing solution has a micro controller reading the contact closure, so I can program this to output a simple Midi command. So here are my questions:
In QLC+how do I trigger scenes and chaser with a midi signal?
As for the DMX controller I am thinking of using "DMX USB Pro MK2", which can store the scenes and chasers and trigger via MDI input.
OR
QLC+ on a Raspberry Pi and used a single digital input for each scene and chaser.
Comments and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
