Q Light Controller+

Hi, first of all I want to thank the community, I've been learning to use QLC thanks to many messages here and thanks to the tutorials and I find it amazing.

I have a mobile DJ business and I also work as a DJ for a club, and in the club we use sunlite, where you press Sunlite icon when the computer boots and then the show already shows up (without having to load it up looking for it). Is that a possibility in QLC? Because I want to change sunlite in my club and reprogram all lights by myself using QLC, but I find it annoying having to open the program and then open the workshop file, not a big deal for me but it could be a step causing problems when somebody not experienced had to set up the lights for me.


Summarising, is there a way to make a direct link in the desktop (windows/mac) to open a certain .qxw file (since clicking on them it just opens QLC for me, I thought it'd be obvious that clicking in those files would load up the virtual console of them) or to set up a .qxw to load automatically on program startup?

I noticed this as well. normally when you click on any file for any program it opens up that file. example if i had a text file called readme.txt it would open notepad and open the file readme.txt. However, QLC+ doesn't do this for some reason. It's like clicking on readme.txt and having it open a blank notepad and then you have to go 'file, open" and then find it.

There is a solution!

1. Make a shortcut on your desktop for qlc+(or if you already have one right click on properties)
2. Click on the Shortcut tab
3. For the target type the following:
C:\QLC+\qlcplus.exe --open showname.qxw
(also i put the actual show file in the qlc+ directory)

And that is it!
One thing to note is that for the name of the show you can't have any spaces...so if your show name is 'club lights.qxw' you would have to rename it to 'clublights.qxw' or 'club_lights.qxw'

Double-clicking the show file on a mac opens the file directly.

Another useful thing to know is that the 'open' button (if you click and hold it) is a drop down of recently opened files.
