DMX and fog machine | Very strange problem

So I am running 4 generic par lights through dmx using an enttec usb open. These par lights can also be turned on using the remote that they come with. Everything works normally but I would like to haze the room so that the lights looks better. I have a separate chauvet, non-dmx, fog machine that I use for this. The problem is when I fire the fog machine using the wired remote the dmx signal cuts out and everything blacks out. Although its only dmx that does not work anymore because I can turn on the lights with the remote to pre-set programs and it will work fine. I do not want to use this remote because i like the programs that i can run with QLC instead. The fog machine is not connected to the same outlet as the lights so it can't be a power issue. I really don't understand this issue and everyone I asked is also confused as to why this happens. PLEASE someone bring me some knowledge on how to fix this. Thank you for your time.

Note: I have tried moving the fog machine further away but the problem still occurs.

I did have a similar problem with a fog machine at a party. When I used the fog machine the sound cut out. Initially I thought that my amp gave out, replacing it did not help. Then I found that my USB sound card was hanging and resetting it fixed the problem. Everything was connected to the same power outlet.

Don't have a conclusion, but I do mistrust fog machines since and try to connect them to a separate power source/outlet. Maybe connecting them with a filtered outlet would help, too.

You must be kidding me ... WTH??

Right ... and that remote uses Infrared or wireless signals?

*wireless
I'd sort out one source of trouble: take the fogger to another place (garage ...) Have your lights hook up to your enttec and try use the fogger-remote to simulate your fogger.

If your fixture(s) go the wrong way - You are very unlucky they share the same frequency (which I can imagine seen the sparse avail of those freq's.) I'd disable wireless reception hardware wise disconnecting the antenna (or applying grounded alu-foil around that spot with hot glue f.i.) inside your fixtures...

If it works alright ... things may get way complicated. I'm guessing while the fluidpump of your fogger works, it's spreading EMC to the powerlines ... (which is not acceptable build quality) then you will have to find out IF junk is coming through powerline and / or induced to your DMX lines. If that's the case - I'd sent the fogger back ... you surely will get in more trouble in the near future.

*infrared
find the receptor lenses on you fixtures and put some black tape in front of it. That should solve the issue ... (and again you'd be very unfortunate they share the same infrared signals ...)

I'd warn you also for your generic fixtures ... IF DMX is present it should be rock solid and overrule everything else. When remote signals are overruling DMX ... then I'm the guy in your venue playing with the remote and messing up your show (!!)

My 2cts worth of experience

(We have literally put a laser fixture to fire with fuel because of the amount of frustration that thing has given us - hooking it up to anything but truss would mean disaster somewhere middle in production... with a need of a total reboot everything as result - happy costumers while waiting for the arc-bulbs to cool down enough so they can be fired again)

Its a wired remote. I use the hurricane 700. I really am not sure what to do

A wired remote (!!)

That nears it down to: When I press the button of the remote of my fogger all other DMX controlled lights go nuts.

Leaves the problem that the pump of your fogger is spreading so much EMC (is not allowed) that your DMX line gets infected (not allowed)

New questions now:
Are you using true DMX capable cabling? Not microphone cables (!!)
Try using a DMX terminator at the end of the line
The mains of your fogger is taken from the same outlet than the rest - Try different circuitries
The DMX cables run very close next to the mains of your fogger -> don't ... try again but keep the cable runs well separated (> 60cm or >2') and don't run them parallel for long distances.
(If you are acquainted with electronics - check the condensators inside your fogger ... they should keep Electro-smog to a minimum)

And now we are solving hardware troubles which have nothing to do with QLC+ anymore...
