For Musicals. play back Light cues and Audio cues with a GO button

I work in a small theatre and we do lots of musicals. With that there is lots of audio and light cues that have to run and time together. I'm looking for help on how to setup a cue list with light change cues as well as music track cues in one show ready easy to follow and playback with a simple GO button as we follow along with the script. Can this be done with this program and if so how. Thanks Tim

I don't know the answer to this, maybe someone else does as I'd like to know.
What I have done is have two "Go" buttons. I suppose I should call them "LX Go" and "SX Go". (I probably would if it was someone other than me using it.)
Each is connected to a separate chaser, one for sound cues, one for lighting cues.
It's not perfect perhaps, but it might be the next best thing.
I've never actually used a desk with a big Go button so I don't know how they work. I went straight from manual "Scene A/Scene B" desks to QLC+.

If the sound cue is a played on the computer running qlc, the easiest way to do this is to use the show function. I use this for dance routines where the light always should change at exactly the right time in the music. The show is not appropriate if the music is live and you have to adjust for actors falling down etc.
I included a show that has I used this on. make sure you look at the shows tab.

Hi Ham,
I too would like to potentially use the show function - but I do intend to use it for live performances. I appreciate that allowing for tempo variation (and cockups!) is something that can be a challenge.
Is it possible to use a button on VC (or MIDI trigger) to advance a show to the next major change (lets say next verse or chorus)?
Or, another idea I had to help set the correct tempo was to have a light fixture set-up so the drummer has a visual 'tempo' (much like and audio click-track) that say flashes RED before the track starts at the correct BPM and then when he's ready he can trigger the start of the show with a foot switch (or similar) that provides a count in (say in ORANGE) for the required beats and then continues (GREEN) for the remainder of the song. This could be a simple strobe on a slow speed or a simple on/off mask or repeating cuelist.
Do you think this could work?

You could very easily set up a chaser that acts as a metronome. It is also very likely the drummer will ignore it as well. You can certainly make several "shows" for each part of a song, and then toggle them on and off. I've never tried that, but I think it would work. The issue will be converting bpm to ms (per beat). You do this by 60,000 divided by bpm = ms per beat. I would probably use 7/8 of the mspb for the mark and 1/8 for the space (time the light is off). I have to try this out. Using the show for various parts of a song has ramifications I haven't completely though through though.
Have fun, experiment

This is a feature I have found myself looking for too. I want to program different steps for songs in a live show and would like to be able to step through them with the simple push of a button to advance to the next step. I do not want it to be time based. It needs to be manual.
Can anyone help or is this not a feature of this program?
Cheers
Geoff

calsonic, you need to build a "chaser". This "chaser" will include every step you want to have. Set the duration of each step to "infinite".
Go to the "visual console". Add a "cuelist". Place your chaser in this cue list. Add a key or a Midi-channel to the "next" button. Now,
your chaser advances every time you press that key.
I hope, this is what you´re looking for.
Good luck
