Default Values when playback is stopped...

Does QLC+ zero out all channels when it's shut down? If so, is there a way to adjust this behavior?

When I exit QLC+, everything goes dark. I'd like to be able to open QLC+ on another MacBook to take over from the values that the last computer was sending and then shut down the other computer.

Come again??
Were are talking about a very nice freeware DMX programm QLC+ here

What you are asking for is a fall-back solution - do you realise how difficult that is to accomplish? Even with the tools installed?
All consoles would have to be in one session, one in control, the others as a stand-by ...
Probing all consoles about their health and deciding thereon which one is the next in line to be the master
Have a look at Chamsys and GrandMa2 solutions - they exist but
comes with a huge cost and an every bigger implementation quotation

[back to reality mode]
What would the purpose be like for such a setup?
Maybe there are other ways to do so...

I usually have two computers running QLC+ during a show. One is connected to the DMX chain, one isn't. To swap between them I move the DMX cable first - everything on the DMX universe is set to remember its last setting so I can do this.
That might be the way to swap between two computers - un-plug DMX first, get the second computer up and running and generating DMX signals, then plug in to it.
Obviously this assumes you have easy access to the cable/s, etc.

I used to do it with only one DMX adapter and I had to practice the order of cables to change! Un-plug DMX, un-plug USB, plug in USB, get QLC+ outputting data, plug in DMX! Then I bought another DMX adapter and it was much easier. Also the very next show I discovered that my original DMX adapter had a fault so I had to use the new one!

I get my two machines in sync the cheap way. I press the "next cue" button on both at the same time. :)

We're using an ethernet --> DMX solution, so any computer on the network could be used with QLC+ to control the lights. On one Sunday, our media guy was struggling to get the right cue to play and couldn't get it right, so I took control on stage with my MacBook, but in the process, it killed the entire system until I could hit play and get the right scene going.

I figured that if I can unplug the DMX cable from the Ethernet converter and all of the lights remain where they are, then I fire up the other computer, shut down the original computer, and then re-connect the DMX cable, the lights wouldn't know the difference.

The problem in that is that while on stage, I wouldn't have access to that cable.

Not a big deal...just wondering.

What is your ethernet to dmx solution? Some of the adapters can merge two artnet streams.

Can’t offer a solution, but sounds like you want a hardware buffer with memory.

I wonder if something like a raspberry pi could work?
Have the RPi as the final hardware before the dmx cable. dmx in > dmx out. Normally acts as a buffer, and holds the last value if the input signal is lost.

Could be worth asking on the RPi part of the forum if anyone has implemented this.
