American DJ QA5 IP

The old ADJ QA5 IP. Is not in production anymore, but we still have them, so why not an own fixture, which covers all the modes of the device. Only thing which is missing are color previews for the color macros, but this channel is a mess anyway, because it's used for different functions, like color macros, color change and fade presets. But maybe it's helpful anyway.

Hah, when I saw this post I thought I could use it for the "indoor" variant ADJ WiFly QA5 I'm coincidentally just about to rent and use for our next opera project this month...

But beware, it's pretty different. Therefore I just started writing another definition, copy-pasting whatever is usable from yours: R, G, B, A, Dimmer, Strobing and Program selection mode are identical, dimmer curve and colour temperature are missing completely, Color Macros channel is pretty different, and I've yet to look at the speed functions.

And it has more modes (1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 channel modes) ... I will submit my definition as soon as it's ready, tested and validated.

ADJ is sometimes strange. I already figured out the same, that the color presets are often different, even if the have always 64 colors. I also don't like the strobe channels, because you have to set it to full on on some fixtures, which makes it difficult to use dimming (from submaster for instance) on the channel on simple controllers.

I've just finished and attach here this new definition for the indoor version, and it passes the validator.

Also this is the first device definition where I'm using the new format features Alias and Global physical dimensions. It took me a bit of time to understand which channel capabilities need the alias preset setting, namely those on the channel that changes mode, not the ones that replace or get replaced...

What remains is a real test but I cannot do that before saturday or sunday, so I dare to post it beforehand :-)

Just a confirmation, I'm using the QA5 indoor variant in an opera production in 5 channel mode without a glitch right now.

I doubt though that I'll find time to test all the modes it has... we're playing until saturday, sunday is a day off or reserved for additional video takes, monday we already strike and bring back rented stuff...
