Q Light Controller+

Hi folks,

I'm just getting started with QLC+. I've gone through the documentation, but I might have missed something important.

My use is for a theatrical production. I'll want to end up with a set of stage looks that can be advanced through with a single button as the play progresses.

If I understand the appropriate workflow to use with QLC+, I should create a set of scenes, which I then combine into a chaser, for which I can set up a "Go" button to advance to the next step.

I am trying to set up a scene. In it, I have six LED PARs (three from each side of the stage). Is there a way to select or group the lights so that I'm working with three at a time? I have tried creating a channel group, but when I add that into the scene, the individual fixtures are listed. Ideally, I would select a set of fixtures an be able to set them all to the same mix of colors.

I am expecting that when I'm done I'll be able to use the scene for multiple steps in the chaser and when I edit the scene, all of its uses will be adjusted accordingly. Please correct me if I've got this wrong.

A solution to quickly set several fixtures to the same values is to use the copy & paste buttons of the Scene Editor.

There is even a "copy all" button if you want all the fixtures in this scene to have the same values.

You're right

David,
You won't be able to use the same scene multiple times in the chaser. Each time you put the scene in the chaser, it will use the fixture values that are saved in that scene, you can't change them within the chaser. The method plugz was telling you is how to set the same color across multiple fixtures in one scene. Once you have that, you can clone the scene and save it as a different scene with the color you want. Once you have all of the scenes made, add them to the chaser, add the chaser to your cue list and you can click through them.

Once you have added the fixtures you want in the in scene, then shift-click or cmd-click the fixtures you want to work with, say the 3 stage left pars, then click the double folder icon ( which 'switches between tab view and all channel view') to work with the selected fixtures. If you click the double folder twice it gives slight different options. One allows you to see all the channels of each fixture in one view (useful for single channel lights) and one that allows you to select a light at a time. This is useful for LED Pars as you can set one to a colour and then 'copy current values to all fixtures' and all the selected fixtures will be updated.

I discovered this behaviour when working on our last production and it was very useful for tweaking the look of a scene.
