Control Via Midi

I have a MIDI keyboard and I am trying to control my DMX lighting with it. I was able to successfully create a Universe that I titled "MIDI". When I press a key on my keyboard, I do see the little Joystick pop up, so it is being recognized. I assigned 4 lights to that MIDI Universe.
The problem I am having is that I do not know what to do next. None of the keys on my keyboard seem to trigger anything.
Please let me know what step I am missing. Thanks in advance!

Have a look at the virtual console, place a button there and read about selecting input channels:

Note: It is NOT recommended to put your fixtures in the MIDI universe. Use an extra universe for that.

Thanks Siegmond. I am very new to DMX and especially QLC+, so I am learning to swim by just jumping in.
If you have a moment, could you give the reason why it is not recommended to use MIDI as a universe for one's fixtures?

The online documentation is very good and you have better chances in the forum if you read it (;

Also, I can recommend the video tutorials for some first approaches:

Sorry I don't really know the reason, but as I already encountered myself, there are strange things happen if you put everything in one universe - so better split up.

OK, I was able to see how it works now. Thank you for your guidance on this.
