Cotrol MA Ultra Light Desk from QLC.

Hi All

I am running a show in November in a theatre that has a MA Ultra Light Desk. The show will use backing tracks with a truck load of tight lighting cues per song. Optimally I would like to use QLC+ to create a show per track and then play the backing track and the lighting cues that way. I do not think I can replace the MA desk.

I do not know anything about the MA desk so hopefully someone here knows a bit about them. Is there a way to control the MA desk from QLC+?

Cheers

Chris

You may want to read manual http://www.lightpower-files.de/Assets/M ... 009_en.pdf (for grandMa1, for grandma2 find it yourself :) )
p. 140 section 8 Remote control.

It looks like it's possible to control it using DMX IN or MIDI IN. Don't forget some DI box in case this connection creates hum/buzz.

Thanks Jano. A little confusing but here is the extract from the manual:
DMX IN can be used to MERGE the signals of a second control board with those of the grandMA and transmit them
to the stage via the same data line. If, during this process, channels from the grandMA and from the second control
board are mixed up, only the higher value will be transmitted. DMX IN will only be linked to DMX OUT A and will not
be output via Ethernet.
Via the DMX IN socket, assigned commands can be called up from an external DMX console. The DMX input has
only the function of a switch that will release at approx. 50%.
I assume it means pick a dmx channel that is not in use as the value you send to grandma will go out on the dmx signal as well. And a dmx value of 127 or higher means on less than that means off. For safety I'll probably use 0 and 180.

Now hopefully the theatre will have some address space left on universe 1. Need to start the liaison.

You have two options, 1 fly to New York and take two classes at act lighting basic and advance. Basic will teach you the console and advance will teach you about timeline and timecoding.

Option two see what there line outs are artnet, acn, or analog and how many outs they are using grand ma does not use universes they use parameters so technically they can have fixture per out but for qlc that would be a universe. You may have to buy hardware. But dmx in is not going to help an less you know how to cross patch in grand ma
