Any thoughts on the new Raspberry pi 2? I am wondering if it now will be capable for standalone usage. I mean creating chasers, and just use it like a normal version of qlc+
Here's the link: http://www.element14.com/community/comm ... spberrypi2
I am ordering one and will post my findings.

Wow...this is awesome news ! Thanks for sharing.
I checked the RPi website yesterday and today - BOOM - the beast is announced.
Not even finished to review the ODROID-C1 (still missing pieces) that I need to move onto this great news.

I'll get one ASAP. I really hope the OS image that I build can work on RPi1 and RPi2 without special customizations.
Reading the announcement article, it seems so.

I have just read about Windows 10 supporting the raspberry(for free!). let's see what possibilities that will create.
Super excited!

It says "for free" for manufacturers...means end users will most likely be charged of the license.
I'd stay away from it eventually and rather request the Android support, which for misterious reasons haven't landed on the RPi yet :(

[EDIT] Also, I don't appreciate the meaning for an open source project to work with Microsoft, which is everything but "open"

P.S. The Element14 website is choking ! Can't even reach the order page

You're right about Microsoft being involved, but it will encourage people to start using theses micro-controllers for everyday usage and therefore encouraging the overall development of ARM-Based apps.
I already noticed the server going down slowly early this morning..i think this new version is going to be a massive hit, since it finally can compete with other devices. I am sure the 100.000 pre-built raspberrys wil be out of stock within the next few days...

I might be wrong, but everything M$ touches, becomes M$-dependant.
For example M$ has part of Autodesk, and by all chances, every year Autodesk wins the Microsoft partner prize...
Also, ask yourself why there is no Autocad or Inventor for Linux or OSX...

Not even talking about M$+Nokia...

I have a trade account with Farnell (Element 14) even though I use it personally - gets me free delivery. That site is running fine and I'm not sure how I got the account in the first place. We do spend thousands each week with them so it could be the work's delivery address!

Hi everyone,

They are out of stock already at Element14.
OddSocks

Ordered some micro controllers off them last month so had a voucher to use, so now have two on order :-)

Bad news everyone !
The image I provide doesn't even boot on the Pi 2 ! :(
They must have changed how the bootloader works.

Trying to figure it out now to provide a single image to rule them all !

UPDATE

I got it running, so now I have a unified image that runs on every Pi.
On the Pi 2, the boot is even faster. Got it up in 22 seconds. Almost 10 seconds less than the Pi 1.

Unfortunately 50 MB of free space have gone, since to support the Pi1 (armv6) and the Pi2 (armv7) the image needs duplicates of each kernel module.

Apart for that, I'm pretty happy of what I'm seeing.

Now give me a couple of more days to finalize the last fixes on QLC+ and then I'll release version 4.8.4 for every platform.

ok guys, i compiled QLC+ on the Pi2 with qt4 for the Xserver and everything runs fine. i can create shows and run them like an ordinary pc ;)

This sounds great. I just got a Pi2 to be used in our theatre. The cues of QLC+ looks just great. It would be nice to have a few lines of text in the "notes" section so you can identify the right place in text. We will try to use it on this summers production "Arsenic and Old Lace". The goal is to control the show from a hidden tablet by the actors on stage and let Pi2 run the lights and sound effects.

This code is AMAZING!!!. My virtual console just turnes up exactly as I designed it with all bells and whistles in the Pi2 web interface. Forget what I said about cue-lines. It will be so easy to set up the show using my laptop and run it from a tablet.
PS. Sorry for being a noob here. I just started to use QLC+ today and I already got the fixtures set up and mapped my intro show to a virtual console button.

Loving it Massimo,

I would like to thank Massimo for all his dedication to the changing platforms we use.

I also got my RPi 2 working this weekend. I did have an issues of just moving the flash card from Pi1 to Pi2. It booted, but the wireless and Ethernet ports did not work properly. I had to burn a new image to the flash card and boot on it and Ethernet port worked and I was able to configure my wireless setup.

And now I'm a 4 Raspberry player. :)
