Suggestions on how to work around "dumb" fixture channels

Hi!

I have used QLC+ a lot already. My current challenge is a new cheap moving head that only has a master dimmer to dim the light. It has the following features:

  • Pan 16 bit
  • Tilt 16 bit
  • Dimmer
  • Color wheel
  • Gobo wheel
  • Prism
  • Focus
  • Strobe
  • Auto modes
  • Reset motors and wheels
I can only control the light being on or off via the dimmer channel. There is no gobo to block all light or no other "switch off" channel.

My goal is to design some scenes and being able to dim the light live during the show. So I assigned a slider to that dimmer channel.
The problem is that when deactivating a scene with that light, it stays on. That's because of the HTP setting. Setting it to LTP also doesn't really work for us because you could turn on the light by moving the slider even though no scene is activated.

Is there any feature or trickery I could use to make this work?

I have thought of using the master dimmer (since this is basically the intended use for it) but it would also dim the other lights. I would rather have one slider for each light's master dimmer. This has worked until now with other devices that have some "turn on/off" channel or two dimmers (like RGB dimmers and master dimmer, or a gobo that turns the light off).

One hacky workaround I can think of is to somehow exclude all other lights from the master dimmer.

Do I miss any feature that could help with my situation?

Ah, well, this can be solved with submaster sliders: https://docs.qlcplus.org/v4/virtual-con ... master-tab
