I'm working on setting up lights for each song. I have 4 identical cans, and am using qlc+ 4.13.0.
Each song is set up as a chase. Within that, I have a chase for verse 1 that random plays certain scenes. Then there's a chase for the chorus, verse 2, and so on. I'm using a midi foot controller to control lights live during performance while I'm playing bass and singing. I hit a button that calls up and starts the chase at the beginning of a song.
Is there a quick and easy way to set the fade in time for all of the scenes involved, and then set the hold time for all of them while NOT affecting the the durations of each individual chase in a song?
I'm also having trouble using the tap tempo. Id much rather use quarter notes or whole notes instead of seconds, because I often want a half or 1 second fade in, with a total duration of 4 or 8 measures. The manual doesn't give much description of how to use the tap tempo. I'm not sure when I should be hitting my second tap to get the timing right, or what the max allowable time for tap tempo is. Thanks very much.

fade in: select 'common' in your chaser.

A tap is a tap ... after (what was it?) 3 taps or so, the tempo is set. If you tap in quarters, the tempo will be in quarters, and you must apply the dividers in the speed dial widget. Simply test it, and you'll quickly know what works and what doesn't. Thanks! I'm going to try to word things better.
Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:
For tap tempo, I want to set the duration(not fade in or hold) to 2 measures(or 2 whole notes in 4/4 time). I'm not seeing a way to tap for duration. Is that at all possible?
Also do I tap on 1 and then count my measures(2,3 4,1,2 3) and then tap again on the 4th beat of the second measure? Or do I tap on the fist beat of the first measure and the first beat of the 3rd measure? I keep getting all kinds of random results. I've never used a tap tempo function on anything before and am not sure HOW it's actually supposed to be used. Once I get that figured out, I'll work on the other stuff.

I'd start tapping on 1 (2 3 4) tap ( 2 3 4) tap, which should result in a more or less precise measurement. If the tempo drifts, you'll have to reset it.

The essence here is to use 2 separate Speed Dials: one to control your chasers and another one to control the Functions you use within your chasers.
It is important that you do not use Fade In or Fade Out in your "Chaser Speed Dial" (set those Factors to (not sent) or even better set them to zero).
