I'm new to QLC+, and I'm the lighting tech for a show running next Saturday. Small church youth musical, based on "Really Rosie". I have my dimmers and directly addressable fixtures in, and I've started playing with scenes, collections, sequences, and chasers.
I plan to create scenes, some of which would be reused in collections and sequences, some used directly in a chaser. Collections for scenes that need to run at the same time, like a general stage lighting scene, and a different RGB color scheme. Sequences for scenes with timed steps (It seemed like this was the only to use a sequence, since hitting next while a sequence is running jumps to the next item after the sequence)
Ultimately, create a chaser that orders the different scenes, collections and sequences. Then run the show in a chaser on the VIrtual Console. I have about 30 scenes, 40 collections, and a sequence planned. Does this make sense? Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks very much,
Howie
I need some advice...

It sounds like you've made a good start, this is pretty close to what I imagine to be optimal for your use-case.
Only thing I would suggest is making it as simple as possible. If possible, try and make your show able to run from one cue list.
In terms of tracking modes and such, there is the ability to change all your fixtures to use LTP instead of HTP. This would remove the need to use sequences everywhere.
Keen to hear about how it goes. All the best.

I've been wondering about LTP and HTP, and I'm sure that's what's been behind some of the odd states I've gotten into when playing around, with fixtures not changing state as expected. Is there any reason, for my situation, not to set everything to LTP? That way at least I can be sure that only what I've set in a particular scene will be lit. Am I thinking about this correctly?

Yes, you are, and LTP is the standard in theatre. Unless you get conflicting intensities HTP won't kick in but you keep the last called value...

The other thing I just sort of discovered is that scenes MUST have a fade out of even just 10ms for a fixture to go off. Took me a while to realize why fixtures were staying on. It wasn't just the LTP/HTP,, though that was part of the problem.

Can you compose a small sample project to show this behavior? This shouldn't be...

It seems to me that this is caused by this recent bug just identified and being worked on by Massimo: viewtopic.php?p=73419#p73419The other thing I just sort of discovered is that scenes MUST have a fade out of even just 10ms for a fixture to go off. (One post above the linked one the OP talks about fixture going off only when fade out time > 0ms)
