Hi,

I'm still in learning mode, but made good progress on my little workspace.

However I'm still a little bit struggling with some functtions or settings. Currently I'm considering if and how to use GM and Blackout. I read some threads in this forum providing hints and workarounds, bit I'm still wondering how to make the most use of this.

Grandmaster

Most of my fixtures have a master dimmer/intensity channel. This and the RGB channels are predefined as HTP in the fixture definition and thererfore all react on the GM, which results in fast fade outs. To leave the RBGs untouched I can define them as LTP which then could show up with other effects.

What's your best practice / recommendation here? Defining your own Grandmaster/Submaster ?

Blackout

This never worked on my side? Neither Intensity nor RGB channels are reacting - both in HTP or LTP mode, I'm on QLC+ 4.13.0.
Could somebody provide a simple demo file with some explanations what to take care about?

Otherwise: QLC+ is great!

What is your setup? What kind of venue? Busking or theatrical?
GM should control all intensity channels
Blackout should kill all intensities (without touching gobo's, color-wheels, ... LTP stuff)
All electric machines work on smoke... when the smoke escapes... they don't work anymore

Just did quick test file: a sample project with two generic dimmers, one set to HTP the other to LTP. Two RGBA fixtures (ADJ VBAR) with intensity channel. One with modified RGB channels (LTP) All fixtures from the inbuilt library
Two faders for the dimmers and a Scene on/off on the virtual console.

- there's no reaction to Blackout at all
- the grandmaster influences the HTP dimmer channel, but not the LTP - OK
- both VBARS: the color channels are now untouched by GM - however if I switch of the Scene, the colors stick at 255? Not OK!

What am I missing?

Blackout should only matter to intensity channels. (Not the R G B intensity channels - you don't want to default all your movers selecting a blackout).
Grandmaster indeed only the HTP channels (since these are normally the intensities - you don't want movers to change position when acting with the Grandmaster).

You can change the way Grandmaster behaves:

If you select change all channels, you'll get the wanted behavior. I just checked the documentation and it is correctly mentioned https://docs.qlcplus.org/v4/virtual-console

Keep in mind that GrandMaster and Blackout will also affect your LoopBack channels.

I use LoopBack for instance to skip the pages on my Multi Page Frames. Using Blackout can result in an unwanted skip to a different Page.
That's why i never use Blackout. :)
