When I load a workspace that I've previously saved, and start an "RGB Matrix" function in Virtual Console, the lights assigned to it require me to set the brightness value of the light in the Simple Desk screen.
Once I do that, lights work fine for the event. But always need to do this manual step after I load the workspace.

The symptom (if i forget to manually move the faders after loading) is EFX triggered from a button in the Virtual Console wont do anything. But if I look in the Simple Desk, I see the appropriate DMX faders moving, but the fader for the brightness for the fixture is always zero.

I assume its me doing something wrong, but i'm not sure what exactly....

You are only "required to set the brightness of the light in the simple desk Screen", because you failed to set it on your VC or in your Functions. :) :D

You have several options:
Put a slider on your VC that controls ""the Brightness" of your fixture.
Add a button on your VC that starts a scene that sets "the Brightness" of your fixture.
You might even add this scene to the Start up Function ("Green Flag" Icon on the Functions tab).

You could also create a Collection with your specific RGB Matrix and a scene that sets "the Brightness" of your fixture and use that to launch the RGB Matrix from your VC.

Finally there is an option to use the "Always Full" channel modifier on the specific channel of your fixture.
A QLC Workspace is like a Bob Ross painting: "it's your world, you can create whatever you want!"
