RGB bar as peak meter / combining multiple channels

Hello there!

Thanks for this forum and for the great software QLC+, had a lot of fun with it using sound to light / Audio Trigger!

Now I'd like to expand the Audio Trigger to use it as kind of a peak meter like the predefined "audio" feature utilizing the built-in microphone allows to act as.

The RGB bar is called "Purelight Pixelbar Switch" and we got two of them: http://www.musicstore.de/INTERSHOP/web/ ... 35-000.pdf

My idea was just use the segment mode (for example contained in the 24 channel addressing) and map the segments to a fader from 0-255.

The RGB bar has 16 segments, 8 on each side. In total, there are 224 LEDs in four rows.
A bit like in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=14643
But with the RGB bar instead of the LED strip.

I tried the "RGB Panel" mode but didn't get Audio Trigger working. The next thing I tried was a custom fixture using the (really great) Fixture Definition Editor but as a absolute beginner, I don't know how to "group" the segments. I tried the "ActsOn" parameter in the QXF but that's propably the vice versa way.

Could this work the following way:

The fader from 0-255 is splitted like:
- Values between 0 and 31 turn on segments 1 and 8.
- Values between 31 and 63 turn on segments 1, 8, 2 and 9.
- Values between 64 and 95 turn on segments 1, 8, 2, 9, 3, 10.
And so on up to
- Values between 223 and 255 turn on all segments (1 - 15).

Managing the colors like values between 0 and 170 or so are green, from 171 to 222 are yellow and from 223 to 255 are red would also be cool but I think that's the easier part.

Is this the "best" way, is it possible in general and will be the reaction speed okay?
I attached some of my drafts just for you to get an idea what this device acts like. They're far away from complete.

I cannot think of another way ... your solution is a 'nice find' It surely will help others.
Thinking about a solution, I came up with a spiced up Loopback Magic solution, but yours is way less complicated.
If it's functional, please share a video.

Unfortunately it is not functional because I don't know how to map the fader to the desired functions.
