greetings, i will be controlling a matrix dmx fixture of 25 channels (5*5 marslite matrix)
each of the 1 of the channels will be controlling r,g,b and w value, will i be able to play with rgb matrix features with this configuration of the fixture?
if i understand the qlc fixture editor, if i do not set each channel with a color value , qlc will not understand the rgb values as leds but as a colour gobo?

Let's analyse your questions together... I'm under the impression you mix things up.
Answer: yes: the RGB matrix will create values for every head inside your fixture. It is limited to R G and B, the white channel will not be driven by the matrix. Pratically, you could reserve the white dots for strobe f.i.
I have attached a fixture definition I am working on showing you how the RGB matrix can be formed. This particular fixture has 2x 16 zones: 16 zones of RGBW and 16 zones of (very bright) white. Depending on the mode you select, the way the matrix is shown needs other information. Look at the arrangement setting which differs in every mode.
If this fixture would have 25 channels, it would have 25 dots (heads, fields, zones, ...) of 1 color. A channel in our jargon is a defined functionality of something: like master-dimmer, Red-value, focus, ...deverosthe1st wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 12:12 am greetings, i will be controlling a matrix dmx fixture of 25 channels (5*5 marslite matrix)
We'll rephrase this as: Each head (zone, field, ...) has r, g, b and white emittors.deverosthe1st wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 12:12 am each of the 1 of the channels will be controlling r,g,b and w value, will i be able to play with rgb matrix features with this configuration of the fixture?

QLC+ needs to know what function a channel in the fixture definition does. Without R-channel, G-channel and B-channel, the RGB matrix will be blind. So you need to set these entries. (Do not forget to include the 'heads' setting inside your fixture definition.)deverosthe1st wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 12:12 am if i understand the qlc fixture editor, if i do not set each channel with a color value , qlc will not understand the rgb values as leds but as a colour gobo?

If you set the Fixture to 100 Channel mode, you can even do without a Fixture Definition: just add it as a RGB Panel (use the button next to Add Fixture and set it to 5 * 5 RGBW).

thanks for the reply, yes i know the matrix have a 100ch mode, but i do not have the ammount of artnet nodes needed for this adjustment.
yes seeing your fixture, you set 1 channel 1 color value(for example in 13 channel mode, channel 10 is red, in my case channel 10 will have red in values 0-50 , the range works for intensity and mixing with the other color (51-100 green) so yeah... no luck here darn, thanks anyway.
i will work with 6 channel mode and work with automatic macros

You only need 1 Artnet node - the fixture will consume 100 channels of this one... I don't understand what you are talking about.deverosthe1st wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 10:38 pm thanks for the reply, yes i know the matrix have a 100ch mode, but i do not have the ammount of artnet nodes needed for this adjustment.

sorry for the late reply, i will have 4 of this matrix and around 16 moving heads, my node only have 1 dmx universe so, yeah 100 channel mode is(was) out of the question.GGGss wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 10:11 amYou only need 1 Artnet node - the fixture will consume 100 channels of this one... it work great at 6 channel mode though, with macros
