Chase Toggle Fadeout Overwriting Flash Button

Hi all,

I use a launchpad midi controller to trigger a number of scenes and chasers when I DJ.

I currently have a 64 button grid on the virtual console that mirrors my launchpad, and I assign scenes and chasers to each button. I have several scenes that use a flash button (think every fixture solid green). I also have buttons mapped to a "green fade" which is the same full green scene as before in a chaser with a blackout to achieve a pulsing green look. This button is a toggle on/off.

When I load my file into QLC and go into operate mode, my flash buttons work great and immediately go black when I let go. But the first time I hit one of the pulse buttons, the next time I hit a flash of the same color it flashes ON, but then fades out. I've never had this issue before with buttons overwriting the flash function of another button. Its strange because they both use the same scene as a base, so it doesn't seem to be a matter of one channel being left on or something.

Without restarting QLC, the only way to get the flash button to work again is to set it to toggle, activate it, leave operate mode, reset it to flash, and reenter operate mode.

How can I fix this?

Fixed it by uninstalling the current version of QLC and reinstalling 4.11 from 2017, the version which I've been using for the last 6 years. This summer I wiped my computer to refresh it and downloaded the newest version, but apparently something is different there...

Not very future proof of me to just keep using the old one but I don't want to reprogram everything...

Reusing a scene for multiple use can cause mayhem. Clone the scene and use that one for your flash buttons.
Albeit: your described (in your opinion wrong) feature is well asked for by the QLC+ users, and I'd be keen to know how you fixed that?
A flash scene with fade-out I mean...

Just a guess, but could this behavior perhaps be related to the change described in this thread?: viewtopic.php?t=16151&start=20
