Hi everyone, I just got my hands on QLC+ for a DIY project I'm working on and intend on using TouchOSC to fire off commands to QLC+. I just got started about ten minutes ago, figured out how to git a Universe output sending DMX to a generic fixture and have configured functions. Everything worked w/o a single hiccup or confusion. And I don't know lighting at all. So that is amazing.
I am also able to get TouchOSC landing MIDI on my Mac. And that is using TouchOSC bridge. But that is not relevant to my troubles because I'm able to run a MIDI sniffer after TouchOSC bridge and see the MIDI flowing as one would expect. In fact, my hacked TouchOSC test button registers a bank select on channel one with bytes 0 and 127. So that is all ducky.
So coming back to QLC+, I've got a function, 'new scene 0' and 'new scene 1'. The former puts the fixture into a green state and the latter red. These also work just great.
Honestly, it is amazing that inside of an hour I was able to get this far being somewhat of a newbie.
So the trouble is that a new button on the VC doesn't register and act on the MIDI. The autodetect feature doesn't appear to do anything either. But I'm 90% sure I've got the right input universe selected. A new button is created, inspected for button properties and external input is used to select an input channel (This should really say 'pick your input universe') and I configure in generic midi, ch 1, bank select.
But clicking the button in the UI just selects it and no DMX is dropped on the network.
What I've tried:
- going after the MIDI w/ another app which works so doubly sure touchOSC and MacOS are doing the right thing
- doubly make sure my MIDI monitor is not somehow snatching the MIDI
- recreated the QLC+ project, tried various combinations, purposefully picked MIDI wrong channel, right channel, midi values
OMG. The VC button only works when in live mode. The button is single-clickable and highlights in the console which I took as a clear indication that the button should be capable of invoking a function while not in live mode.
I am posting this so people can laugh at me or take the experience for any future UX enhancements.
Well, great software! LMK where the tip jar is.

Funny and encouraging for new users to read about your experience. ToP - thx 4 sharing.
You can make your life easier if your create an input profile: https://www.qlcplus.org/docs/html_en_EN ... files.html
With this tool, you can clearly name your inputs (or for what they are intended to do).
There is a yellow donation button on the home page (right side) - but this is not mandatory and gives you access to a precompile ready to go version for the Raspberry Pi.
Have fun.
