For my moving head movements, I'm using EFX generator. When I add a Speed Dial in virtual console during live mode, when I stop the value is saved to the EFX function. I've read manual and tons of threads here and still having trouble figuring out how to not get it to save to the function, besides not saving show file when exit.
Ideally a reset to the EFX default speed somehow is what I need. From reading it seems like the only thing that is resettable is the multiplier the time is multiplied by.
I tried to add the EFX to a chaser and a collection then had speed control to those functions and neither would control the speed.
Anyway to achieve a speed dial reset to EFX programmed speed dial?

a) when you tap the speed, the speed dial changes automatically,
b) you can also use a preset for your default (reset) value.

In the EFX Editor the Play Button and the Speed Dial are only tools to help you visualise the Effect you are creating.
Your assumption that an EFX has a Default Speed (and that this is the place to set it) is not correct.
The best way is to start with a Speed Dial that you only use for your moving head Effects.
You might even consider to use a number of Speed Dials: ultimately one for each separate Effect or one for Each separate Moving Head, there are no restrictions to the number of Speed Dials you use.
As you want the Effects from QLC to run smoothly, you should not use Fade In and Fade Out: set them specifically to Zero (which is different from "not Send").
At the Input Tab set a range that matches with your effect, i usually use a range of 2 .. 15 seconds. If you want faster than 2 secs, your Heads aren't able to follow, if you go longer than 15 secs you will not notice the Effect of the effect anymore.
Now define some Presets, for instance X-Fast (2 secs), Fast (3 secs), Medium (5 secs), Slow (9 Secs) and X-Slow (15 secs).
If you have experience with Loopbacks you can use a Slider to Control the Speed (instead of the buttons).
If you use LoopBack you can now create a Scene that sets your Speed to Default (e.g. 3 secs) and add it to your Start Up Routine (green Banner on the Functions Tab).
