Cue Stack - fade out time/hold has no effect

Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

Hi, I'm trying to transition our little theatre from a Smartfade desk to computer control, keeping it as simple as possible as we have many volunteer designers who are used to the board.

I've set up my dimmers and LED fixtures in my one universe, and have pulled up Simple Desk. I recorded a few cues in Stack 1 and have played them back.

The issue is that the Fade Out and Hold times do not work as I expected which is...
Fade Out: The current cue will fade out at the time set in this field regardless of the fade in time of the next cue.
Hold: Once a cue finishes fading it, it will hold for the time entered and then proceed automatically to the next cue in the stack.

Can someone please direct me to documentation or a forum post on each of these? I tried searching the forum but I got frustrated with so many matches that don't speak to what I"m looking for.

Thanks for your help!

Hello, I suggest you have a look at the dedicated page for tutorials:

Simple Desk Cues is kind of a legacy feature that will be removed in QLC+ 5. Nowadays it's more powerful to use Scenes/Chasers.
Therefore, watching the tutorials will help.

Awesome, thanks! Good to know Simple Desk is leaving before everyone gets used to it.

Only the Cues feature will be removed, not the whole Simple Desk, which is vital for many users

Ow yes please...
If for an absurd reason you have to stick a channel to a certain value, the simple desk is vital because of its higher priority.
All electric machines work on smoke... when the smoke escapes... they don't work anymore
