Hi all,

I am as green as it gets when it comes to lighting. I currently do all the sound for our band and now I am working on getting some lighting setup. I have 2 x 4Bar Quads, a Gig Bar 2 and a Hurricane 4D hazer. I have DMX cables, a laptop (i'm in IT so that is easy :) ), an Enttec Open DMX USB interface, 5 pin to 3 pin adapter, USB cable and of course the lighting fixtures.

My dude at Sweetwater recommended QLC+ and so that is what I am going to try and use.

My issue is with the correct config within the fixture editor for the 4Bar Quad. The Gig Bar2 already has a definition within QLC+.

I am able to configure it and validate it, but I know it is not quite correct because of channel 3 having 3 functions dependent on what value channel 1 is set to. I believe I need to create an Alias, but I cannot even get to a point where I can click the "+" on the Alias section. I am stuck at this point. I have tried watching YouTube videos and looking at the Alias section of the manual, but I just cannot figure it out. I need some more specific direction.

Currently I have channel 3 set as strobe, but there is an "Auto speed' and "sound sensitivity" piece as well. This may work just fine how I have it set currently, but I know it is not "correct" and I would like to make this fixture 100% and share it with the Community.

I have attached the DMX values for the 19 channel setting that I will be using as well as my fixture definition file.

I am not looking for someone to do the work for me, but some specifics and direction would be very much appreciated!!!

Mike

You can look at other definitions that incorporate the Alias features, in the Fixture editor, to get an understanding.

Since some time I use the Eurolite LED Bar RGB 252/10 and the definition QLC comes with works just fine.

If you look at it in the editor, you see that the Mode page shows just the Mode channel and then placeholder channels called "No function 1", "No function 2" and so on, while the Alias page defines what "real" channel to put in their place, depending on the first channel's value.
