I've randomnly discovered something that help to save a lot of time for creating scene. I haven't found informations about that, so i imagine it wasn't wanted. But it so usefull ( to me) !
While you create a scene, after you have added different fixtures, when you select one or more fixtures in the list, and then clic on "switch tab view", only tabs of the fixtures you have selected appear. You can press multiple time to have "tab view" or "all channel view" of thoses devices.
That allow you to adjust them really fast. To me faster than with channel groups. And if you use "copy all", it change only selected fixtures setting.
When you want to have everything again, you can do it again by selecting everything. Or you leave and return on the scene.
Did you ever notice that ?

Giacomo, if you are so unhappy about QLC+, why do you still use it?
Based on many sharp comments of yours, it's clearly not the tool you expect.

Hey Massimo ! Did you know already that ? Isn't it a good news ?
I experiment that on 4.12.3 , 4.12.4 and 4.12.5 GIT, but maybe it worked already on older versions. I use QLC+ on Windows.
Anyway, it's really helpfull ! Perhaps it can give ideas for future features
I work in theatre. Scene editor is really powerfull ! I just sometime spent to much time when i have lit of fixtures, to select right tabs, copy/paste, set channel groups or widgets... Althought there is so many ways to work with QLC+
I finally find my best way, it was just a question of time and experience.
I take this opportunity to thanks you and the "experts". QLC+ is a marvelous tool, and the forum is so instructive. Even if i don't always understand everything because of my limited knowledge in english.
I love the community <3 Don't be nervous, you do well

dear Massimo,
I like qlcplus for all the reasons that I've already written and I'd love to use it in the future.
I'm doing right now a show and they've allowed me 2 days more because qlcplus4 it's too slow, I don't care much about my extra work but I've to respect the performers and the time they need for rehearsals with lighting too.
Please try to release qlcplus5 in a reasonable time.
If I can suggest something: we need urgently a better software for programming the real lights (of course qlc4 is very stable and reilable but it's not meant for live performances), then a visualizer is a plus for the ones interested in it.
In any case thanks.

Even though it isn't explicitly explained somewhere, this feature/behaviour I very very often use. It is using this or going to collections.
Clone a scene, select fixtures needed, change values, label and ready. Now, if for some reason, they are not happy with the outcome, you will have to track back to the sequence step (or scene) where you started cloning and possibly adopt multiple scenes and this IS time-consuming.
I can confirm that a dance performance is harder to program than a play for sure. If something isn't right, say halfway through the song, they would have to redo it from the beginning. That is nature. Where in a play, they could step to scene x and start from there...
During a dance rehearsal, I tend to make notes and implement them during the break. If the company wants to redo that part, you are already ready to receive the new wanted setting and with the previous changes in place.
The right tool for the job? I got called on a SOS Saturday 2pm. "We need a LD, since the hired is Covid infected", "What desk is in place?" "a Chamsys, not yet patched!" "When do you open doors?" "At 6pm but rehearsals start at 4pm". "Give a shortlist of gear hanging please?" "8+12 RGBW pars with zoom (unknown to QLC+ and Chamsys), 10 washes (known to QLC+), 8 footlights (unknown profile), 4 blinders (unknown to QLC+) and lastly: 4 stage towers with 3 movers hanging in them (exotic profile to QLC+ and Chamsys).
I grabbed my GrandMA3 desk and went. While creating fixture profiles etc, I simply had to skip dinner call trying to get an 'I'm ready'-state. Only after the 1st band, there was kinda a light show. I kept on programming throughout the night. The artistic budget was somewhere in the €7k's. Medium profile. I'll present my invoice including dry-rent my desk. It will be protested for sure.

Uh .. with respect .. I've been using QLC+ for theatre, live, staged, and queue'd shows for years now. Just like any tool, you get out of it what you put into it. In this case we ( the collective we of peeps on this forum, especially including Massimo ) have put in:giacomo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 10:51 pm If I can suggest something: we need urgently a better software for programming the real lights (of course qlc4 is very stable and reilable but it's not meant for live performances), then a visualizer is a plus for the ones interested in it.

- development with no compensation other than donations
- the time to learn how to use QLC+ effectively
- suggestions and PRs to extend the capabilities of the software
- help to others on this forum (and others !) so they too can use it effectively
- fixtures, RGBScripts, MIDI mappings, and other support files to extend QLC+
Yes this software is not all things to all people, but it's one of the better 'generic' tools that can work across the board for shows; IF you put in the time. If you want something for "Real lights" and don't have the time.. I suggest you grab your wallet and be prepared to pay "real" money. But for what you're paying for this .. I think you're getting more than your money's worth; and I for one am extremely grateful for the software, the community here that supports it, and most importantly for Massimo for riding herd on this project and driving it forward.

dear Branson,
finally you put the question on your wallet perspective and you're just arrogant: as if few hundred euros would change anything in the budget of a professional production. Anyway if this is you concern you can grab chamsys for free.
Personally I don't have this problem, this time there was a GrandMA in the theatre.
Everytime it's like to criticise a church in this forum and it ends up always in the wallet of someone.
I don't use qlc+ because it doesn't cost like many of you do, I like it but in the end of the day it's much more work and responsibility for me, so I hope that there will be an upgrade.
regards
