enttec pro mk2 output frequency 44Hz?

Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

not sure if to post it here:
I've the opportunity to use an Enttec Pro MK2 and the max frequency of the device is "40 Fps" as stated in the specs and under the utility Pro Manager for Windows, while qlcplus default is 44Hz.
Should this value be updated for qllc+?
Right now I can't run the Enttec Pro Manager but I believe that the Enttec Pro has the same value of 40 Fps too.

No, you can change it yourself.

of course I did, my question was to help users not aware of it.
probably it is not important if you think so.

Never ever experienced problems with the Enttec; except for this once a Chinese knockoff laser was in play and caused mayhem onto the DMX bus. I had to lower the frequency in the Pro Manager to 12Hz before it started working-ish. After another 30 minutes, I pulled a new universe to that laser to isolate it from the rest. Piece of junk... labelled it as so during load out.

You were lucky! many people included myself had problems with the open enttec at 44Hz.
In my case I've found a safe value around 30Hz for the open and to not risk I use the pro at 40Hz as stated in the specs.
One time someone borrowed me a cheap interface and I had to lower the refresh value like you.
The question is: do you use enttec at 44 Hz?

Wait ... OPEN Enttec or Enttec PRO - this makes a huge difference (!)
With the OPEN your computer processor is responsible for DMX timing. With the PRO, the device itself has enough power inside to do the DMX magic. Your computer instructs the PRO of the values on the Universe and the PRO buffers and sends them onto the bus.
My PRO runs at default speed 44Hz ( 40Hz I had to tweak the Break signal timing duration once, don't know why anymore).
Just know that f.i. GrandMa natively runs at 30Hz. So a refresh rate of 40Hz equals 25ms, 30Hz = ~33ms (for a fully used universe 512 channels)

you said enttec without specify, you should be precise otherwise someone could get confiuse ;)
Middle of October, do you want to come to kvs/bxl?

Have a question for you:
enttec mk2 with qlcplus, I've noticed tonight that randomly is sending full values for a very short time, with a cadence of minutes in between.
During the afternoon sometimes the smoke machine was "puffing" and I thought it was the pump, then in the evening I was on stage and I've noticed that the hmi shutter was sometimes opening very fast, not even visible from the audience. So I 'suppose' that enttec is sending full values. Any clue?
bedankt

You started the thread explaining Enttec Pro MK2 and the PRO manager.
I responded with that interface in mind.

No... I didn't experience that behaviour. Is this a bus reset? What value do you use for the Mark after Break and Break Time inside Pro Manager? Or does the bus go into High Z-state mimicking a cable fault?
I would connect a DMX tester in that case to investigate.
 checking the manual I now see that the highest and default value for the DMX bus refresh is 40Hz (and not the quoted 44Hz), I will change the previous posts to reflect reality.

KVS you say? What and when? See me in PM

hi Fredje,
today it seemed all good but honestly we where busy in furious rehearsals so I haven't really had the time to watch it, I've not seen any big "puff", maybe the theatre could have some disturb in the dmx lines as well?
The enttec mk2 is with the last firmware and the house suggested defaults, I've only changed qlcplus output rate to mach the 40Hz.
regards.

yes KVS, I replied in PM

Fredje,
you've suggested me a curiosity:
enttec pro, if I want to change the real dmx output rate do I have to set it in qlc+ or in the enttec firmware?

When in trouble I set it with the firmware tool (because DMX refresh is one thing, sometimes the Break time has to be altered to get fixtures working better). But then again, the driver also has the possibility to instruct the firmware of changed frequency.

For the ones interested, not a enttec/qlcplus problem, something in the wireing that we've to catch.
