Do you guys typically run routers ( with no internet connection ) to your shows ? Is it a better option then
Just using a laptop to create a wifi network ? ( adhoc )

I use a router to support both wired and wireless. Given the time it takes for things to "find and bind" to an access point, I think it's better to have one on the show that's stable and has a UPS on it. One other note, if you're gonna do ArtNET + wireless.. you *Really* don't want to do broadcast .. you want to use unicast. broadcast over a switched ethernet works well .. but even then I've gotten in habit of using unicast so that the switch(es) can be effective.
