Hi everybody,
As a new user of QLC+ (after other softwares), first I want to congratulate Massimo for its amazing good job.
After few weeks of use, I am able to do more or less what i want to do with this very great software except one thing :
I did not find all the solutions to synchronize bpm coming from VirtualDJ (OS2L:beat) with scenes, sequences, chases, and so on. Everything works perfectectly when I want to use a sequence with 1 bpm per step but everything become more complex when i want to do more difficult things like synchro fade in up to 32 steps, automation of 4 or 8 steps animations etc..... I'am sure it is possible but I did'nt find how yet. Advices of experimented users are welcome and It's the reason why I open this topic. Sorry If It already exist somewhere in the forum.

Best regards
Stéphane

I would use the Speed Dial widget on your VC.
Now use the bpm (or tap) and bind it to the tap button. Now the Speed Dial will follow the tempo of your VDJ.
With the multipliers, you can achieve fractions or double, quadruple speed applied to your automation.
Try this ...
PS: You can use the bpm on multiple Speed Dials also...
All electric machines work on smoke... when the smoke escapes... they don't work anymore

Thank you very much for your answer.
Indeed, I use a speed dial in VC with VirtualDJ beat OS2L message as Tap input. Then, I add my sequences in the first tab (functions) and everythink works perfectly when I set duration factor to 1 and other X factors to "not sent". But when I want sequences with fade in of 8 beats for instance, its seems that my sequences refresh before the expected time. It is probably a misconception of my sequence or wrong choices in X factors. I tried several combination of factors (X8 for fade, X8 for Duration, not sent for duration, etc....) but I did'nt succeed Yet. Another problem I have is the limitation to X16 in Xfactor menu. Sometimes I need very long fade. A solution probably exists since multiplication factor is not limited in the widget itself when used live. But my aim is to get a total automation (in combination with virtual DJ automix and cue point sending OS2L messages to QLC+). Advices or examples are still welcomes :)

Thank you again

best regards

To illustrate my question, please find attached a very simple example.
In this exemple When I set duration manually in the speed dial (entering a value directly or using tap without link with beats from VDJ) it works as expected (the Button lauch a fade IN of 4 steps followed by 4 steps at maximal intensity, total 8 steps= 8 beats duration for the entire cue)
When I put virtualDJ beat as input for tap, the appropriate duration values appears in the speed dial as well as in the function itself but DMX values have a strange behavior (monitor) : they never reach the expected value et the cue end too early. I don't understand why and what I am doing wrong. My question is only for fade in / fade out.

Thanks in advance if you have any anwswer

Best regards

Hey Stephane,

unfortunately, I don't have a solution but your problem sounds very much like the one I am facing and others too:
Check this old post (and my last comment on it)

maybe we can push it one more time :)

G'day Stephane,

Just a thought but I stumbled on another way that may or may not fix your problem but I would put POI cue point in a song in VDJ that would trigger a sequence by an OSL2 command . Takes a lot of pre programming of course.

This POI (Point of Interest) cue point generates an OSL2 command that gets sent to the QLC+ and plays out the sequence or scene or what ever you like but of course only that sequence or scene. You can repeat this POI as many times as you like but so long as its not triggered again before that sequence or scene has finished.

The downside of course is that you have to pre-program the songs you want and it can only work by making up these POI cue points within each song well before a gig. Doing this on the fly won't work,,,,,, but if you make up a sequence or scene or whatever generic enough it can kind of work.

What do you reckon, something you can work with maybe??

Good luck,

Robbie

Ps. tried other lighting programs,,, this QLC+ rocks,,,,, well done Massimo, you are a legend.
