Cannot control dimmer/strobe etc of mini spider in Virtual console (but can with my par cans)

Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

QLC+ 4.12.2
Mac OS 10.14.6 Mojave
Generic Mini LED spider moving head (with spider symbol stamped into the plastic of each end of unit)

My problem is that I can’t control the strobe or dimmers for the mini-spider in the virtual console.
I have some generic pars which I can easily in a slider’s playback options choose the dimmer/strobe channel and thus control the par’s strobe etc.
When I do the exact same thing with any of the strobe or dimmer settings I the mini spider, nothing happens.
In the simple desk I can control these no problem.
I have searched everywhere in this forum and tried many different combinations all day yesterday and most of today with no luck.
Combinations I have done include creating totally new categories of fixtures, using the wizard to create a widget with the click-n-go slider, tried static scenes and moving head chases, HTP/LTP combinations on the channels, creating a scene of the strobe setting and setting that to a button and loads of other different things that I can’t remember now, sorry. You know how it is when you go down that hole trying to find the solution to a problem?

I’ve only had QLC+ for a few days now.
I’m literally blown away by how powerful and intuitive this program is. Literally everything I want to do I have been able to find a direct way or an easy work around. I was using one of those generic DMX controller desks before this.
I am well over half way through the manual now. I haven’t read every single word of it (but I always do eventually with new gear or programs) I have dived into every part of the manual I think that could help me with my problem and have searched everywhere but can’t find anything similar so please do not bite my head off if it is an obvious thing I’m missing. I’m still relatively new and not proficient in QLC+-
The pans work but the spider doesn’t. So weird.
Many thanks!!!

Are you sure that you set a color before adding strobe in VC?
(I assume in simple desk you apply multiple sliders, showing you a strobing effect)

Looking at your definition file (print screen) I already spot some troubles there. Yellow f.i. doesn't exist in Light World - it would be called Amber, but then again, it would be odd to find a RGB+A fixture.
Trying to find the manual for you, I stumbled on the 'unknown' Uking fixture, telling me that the exact type isn't correctly entered, rendering the definition file useless for others.
Send in your definition file and a link to the manual.
I will be happy to look into things for you.

Hey hello GGGss,

Thanks so much for your reply! Well firstly, let me explain the yellow thing, lol.
They're actually white lenses which glared a bit too much so I put yellow gels behind them to make them colourful. :D

Now onto my problem which I think I have solved. To make a long story short I thought that shutters would work differently to
panning and that I could magically control all features regardless of their settings.
So annoying that it was something so simple but typical in the beginning I guess. Anyway, I'm glad that I solved it myself so
now I feel more confident to just persevere with a problem myself until it is logically solved.

Thanks again and Happy New Year :D :D :D ;)
