Simple desk over web

Hi

I'm getting set up for a small venue so the lights can be controlled from any point via RP and QLC+ but the web sliders seem to have a large latency is this normal? Also the sliders on the simple lighting desk on the RP seem to be a little jerky (I'm using the latest version of RP)

So my question are?

Is it best to control the lights using scenes rather than the simple desk?

Can you use a standard cheap lighting desk and control it via midi to give both computer and pie control?
