Queueing & Speed dial feedbacks

Hello all!

I volunteer with a venue (normally do sound) but am now doing lighting, i was just wondering how other people somehow queue different scenes and bits! I would really love to be able to right click on a few VC Widgets and them go yellow or something and when i press a release key they all execute and the current ones stop. i have my vc layed out with a colours frame, sequence frame & Position frame, so if i want to change the moving heads to a certain pattern and colour on a drop, i have to click one widget and then click another (Which obviously causes a nasty pause or un-smooth transition)! How does everyone else setup then execute big effects? :D

Another question i had was regarding the speed dial, In my sequences & Movement frames, i have duration dials that i have mapped to pads on a midi keyboard so i can tap them in. I noticed there isnt a feedback option on the duration input, is there a way i can make the pad flash with the said dial? so at 100ms or 500ms, whatever the speed dial is at.

We lampies don't use 'release' but 'GO' ;-) to describe this...

What you are after is called 'blind mode' - you can change the whole setup to your likes and when you release (yes now we use release ;-)) blind mode - all-new settings get effective.
Unfortunately, this mode is preserved for other bigger desks... maybe QLC+ v5 (I'm not sure - I had a peek and something called 'pause patch universe' is announced but I presume this will not be a blind mode?)

With a lot of work, you could transform your VC into a via loopback inputs driven ... Since you, in the end, want to be able to combine multiple settings at once, every button has to get a 'higher level' control. This is the loopback-universe copy so to say.
Every VC control gets it loopback universe channel. On a hidden page, you will have to copy these controls because you also want to be able to trigger them through the use of hardware? Right?
Every hidden control has its own cue driving a channel in loopback universe. (output)
Every not-hidden control is bound to this channel. (input)
When you trigger one control in the hidden, this cue becomes active in the not hidden.

And now if you want to combine multiple settings - you could combine them in a cue driving the channels in the loopback universe - hence pushing all buttons in VC.
Put multiple cues in a chaser, and create a go button, you could monkey control your desk by simply pressing one button.
Oh and by the way - these loopback channels will have to be LTP. (If LTP doesn't mean anything ... go and figure out the difference between HTP and LTP.)

I told you ;-) a lot of work... Is it worth it? Depends on how many hours of labour you want to input.

The easier solution would be - combine all wanted effects into one collection. A lot less flexible and not busk-mode friendly.

Please - one question per thread.

Yes there is - create a dummy channel in loopback universe (yes ... again: loopback universe)
Create a chaser or sequence on-off-ing that channel.
Set the speed of this chaser to your speed control. (Well actually it's the other way around - have speed dial control duration of that chaser/sequencer.
Now bind that loopback universe channel to the trigger of a button in VC.

That is one way to accomplish this.
All electric machines work on smoke... when the smoke escapes... they don't work anymore
