I have a small moving head light and have a profile for it. This was added to a scene (function). Now, when I go to virtual desk I create a new button and on double clicking point to the moving head function. But all I get is a plain box. How do I use the profile to see the P&T and various color features please?

Use the function wizard? It can generate functions and then can add several widgets for these functions to control your fixture...
For P/T you could add a X/Y pad and point it to your device.
Or create a fader matrix with faders for every channel of your fixture, similar to what shows in Simple Desk.
A scene pointing to your fixture will contain values for any activated (checkmarked on top of the channel fader in scene editor) fixture channels, so your button in playback mode won't magically show channel controls (if that's what you expected to happen) - it shows what actual content there is in your scene, as long as the button is pressed/scene is running.
All that basic stuff is covered in the manual and video tutorials.
