I'm new to exciting world of DMX. QLC is great. I have 2 challenges though that I can't solve and need advice:
1. I want to load shows for our prog rock band performance, so I can trigger loading a show with MIDI controller note (KORG padkontrol) AND then have out drummer tap foot controller (connected to padkontrol) in sync with his click, so the light show is synced to the music. So essentially, having loading specific song/show in QLC with one MIDI note, and starting PLAY with another note (or MIDI controller, it's assignable). Is this possible and if so how exactly?
2. I'm trying to improve definition for one of the lights. It has a color wheel, but default library preset only shows specific range on the "color control" channel. I want to define specific color and it seems to be possible. However when I copied the file to modify, my new file (similar finlename, similar fixture name, only with added "test" in the end) doesn't show up in the fixture library. I quit and restarted app a few times - it's not there. Everything is the same in the file settings except for new name, but it doesn't see the new fixture, and overal "fixtures found" number stays the same. How can I make QLS to rescan the library?
Thanks.
Edit: #2 is solved now...

You didn't tell where you copied the new fixture file, nor which OS you're using.
You should put them into fixtures/ subdirectory of your QLC+ user folder, see point 4 in the Q+A here: https://www.qlcplus.org/docs/html_en_EN ... swers.html

Thank you! I missed the user part and was putting it into main fixtures folder. It works now. Now I only need to figure out the MIDI solution.

On the VC you can f.i. put a cue-list and the 'next cue' control you can bind a midi-input to.
Best is to create an input profile and go from there on...

I tried that but cue list can only load chasers and sequences, but not shows. Show checkmark is greyed out, so I can't put the whole song show in there. Is there a way around that?

Uh .. so here's what I just tested:
- Create scenes as needed
- Create a new show
- Goto virtual console and create a button for the show
- select the button widget
- click the function widget
- default listing doesn't show the shows .. you have to click the bottom checkbox to enable them in the list
- select your show
- map the button using the external input to the midi function of your choice. I just tested with an APC40 Mk 2
- Use Toggle Mode
- Go into "run mode' .. click on upper right ..
- fire your midi function once, the show will start
- profit!
