An earlier thread entitled Working with Unknown Fixtures and Channels gave me the idea to create a DMX Tester project.

I'm in a similar situation, since the small theatre group I support periodically pops-up in odd venues where nobody knows (or cares) what the DMX assignments or configurations are. Having just purchased a new DMX interface with DMX-In (DMXKing eDMX2 Pro) I'm now in a position to do something about it. It's not a complicated project, just laborious to create, and it can be used in 3 different ways:

1) As a generator/transmitter of a universe (512 DMX channels) for test purposes.
2) As a receiver to display the state of an incoming DMX universe.
3) A snooper (combined receiver-transmitter) to take in and display the values of a universe, optionally add test patterns (HTP), then output the overall result on to the fixtures.

Operating notes are included within the project, simply expand the relevant frame.
Remember to modify the I/O settings to suit your hardware.

Hope this is of some use to others.
