I haven't yet found the name of my fixtures, so I can't add them in to the universe yet (I'm working hard to find this). So while using the little dimmer board and the row of 7 cue stacks, is there a way to make recording there easier? I'm mainly looking at the fact that to record lights on cues, they need to be marked in red. I would like to have 6/7 of those dimmer cue stacks just be light sections (such as stage right, color groups, stage right, ect.). However if then put one of those groups up, such as stage left, it doesn't put the lights on in that section in red, it just puts them up in but still in gray.
Basically I want 6/7 to be submasters that I can turn up multiple at a time, go to the #7, and record the ones that are up. How do I do that easily?
Thanks for all the help.
Recording Cues using the Dimmers on the board

Sorry, there are some points in your question that I can´figure out what you mean:
I´m not sure but one cannot "mark" anything in QLC+ to be "red"
Perhaps someone else in the community can help you...
What exactly is "the little dimmer board" in QLC+ ?So while using the little dimmer board
What do you mean by cue "stacks" ? Why seven ?the row of 7 cue stacks
What do you mean by "recording" ? QLC+ cannot record data !?there a way to make recording there easier?
they need to be marked in red.

What do you mean by this ? I´m not aware of any lights that emmit "gray"it doesn't put the lights on in that section in red, it just puts them up in but still in gray.
Still not clear to me what yout want to to ...Basically I want 6/7 to be submasters that I can turn up multiple at a time, go to the #7, and record the ones that are up. How do I do that easily?

I think the OP talks about Simple desk and calls it "little dimmer board"...
Below these faders there is the cue stack area, IIRC it's configurable how many faders you see there.
@Gabe4312: you should read the manual and watch the tutorial videos to make yourself familiar with basic workflows, lingo and concepts...
The simple desk gives you immediate access to every defined channel. Its main purpose is testing/quick access of channels, and overriding data from elsewhere in the program (the fader gets red to show that it has taken over), so that you can change a value even if a scene or other function controls it at the same time.
The cue stack as far as I know is largely unmaintained, while it basically works, don't expect it to do what you want or that it will evolve anywhere in the future. It uses a cue system on its own, independent of the rest of the program.
Virtual console is what you are looking for: there you build your own "virtual" lighting desk - you can add faders, knobs and buttons, optionally map them to physical faders, then create scenes etc. and put them into chasers for timed playback in a cue list widget.

@yokosuna- I will take pictures of what I mean. Sadly that was the best I could explain it using words, and it was late last night when I wrote that so I was rather tired.
@edogawa- I will make sure to watch those tutorials. With the virtual deck, I belive I need to add fixtures into my universe which I haven't been able to do yet (Hopefully I can today- I just found the name of the fixtures that I have). With "mapping them to physical faders" via the virtual desk, I have been trying to use an old light board that I have to do so but I have been told that won't work (see my other post).

These many faders in Simple desk won't do anything without fixtures either, just open the DMX monitor and see - there is no output when no fixtures are defined.
That said, you can always just ignore what your fixture is and add the same number of ordinary dimmer channels - that is "Generic Dimmer", selected by default in the Add fixture dialog. The Fixture concept is just there to simplify dealing with intelligent lights, the DMX protocol doesn't even know about that - simply said it's just a stream of values for up to 512 channels on one cable.

That makes a lot more sense. So basically for my "normal" non LED lights I can use a generic filter and than for my leds I'd add in there make and type? I'll be in the theatre later today, so I'll let you know how it all plays out and take those pictures. Thanks.

The record function is present under 'dump DMX values'
Every (light) view can be stored inside a cue... I think you were looking for that also?
Brake a leg in your theater-project. Don't forget to use nice fade times... (LED is toooo instant for theater use IMHO)
[edit]: and while at it - use channel modifiers to get a nice dimming curve - Personal I have LED fixtures mimick the incandescant version - it's to say I have my LED fixtures R+G channels dimmed to the least value possible - just like the filament pre-heat settings (approx. 5%) with incandescant bulbs... - it gives the stage a certain feint orange 'glow' - if you can add some amber ... you get a warmer feint orange glow [/edit]

I'm not sure how to get pictures on here, but I got the fixtures added into the universe today. This 3 month project has finally come together and I couldn't be happier with the result. Of course I still have a few kinks, but thank you all for the help.
@GGGss- I'll make sure to do that. Thanks again.

Also my screen resolution seems to change most times I boot up the pi. I originally didn't change it, but then I did to try and get the full software shown on the screen. The next couple times I booted it up after that, nothing happened. However today it changed to what I set it as. IS there a reason for this? Nothing major, but just another little kink.
