I am working on a project with stage automation and see if there is a way to input a motor encoder feedback into qlc to put limits on a motor. We are building cubes that has led panels on them and a moving head and the cube is connected to a high speed theater winch, controlling the winch via dmx is the easy part but the location of where the winch cable or cube is the part we are having problems with and that’s where the encoder comes in. So I am seeing if qlc can read the encoder steps then translate it to the dmx channel the motor is on then call out positions and to stop the winch at the programmed limit.

I suppose that for that you need the engine that controls that cube to be a "step by step" engine with a beginning of a race and an ending with "x" steps to develop the principle to end .. if as you say, the easy thing is to control that motor by dmx, I guess you only need a custom library for that engine ....
