Controlling colour for grouped and individual heads

Hi All,

Another noob question here - I'm still grappling with this stuff so please bear with me...

I have four LED moving heads. I want to be able to assign a colour to all the heads and dim them as a group. This I can do no problem.

I then want to be able to assign a different colour to one of the heads - say H1. I can do this too. However, the new colour appears blended with the original colour assigned to the group. I can get around this by changing the behaviour of the LED lamps from HTP to LTP. However, when I do so I lose the ability to control the intensity (shutter) on the group and the individual head. The Submaster option doesn't work and not does the Level option.

Ideally I would like the 'Group' colour buttons to 'override' any colours of individual lamps (if set) - i.e. taking everything back to a flat single colour.

I have tried this with multiple solo and regular frames - neither seems to get me what i want.
I have even tried assigning 100% intensity to the individual colour scenes but the blend still happens.
Oh, and I've also tried a script idea that calls up a 'Black' (i.e. off) function before setting the new colour option.

I've attached two scene files - one with just the grouped LED Moving Heads and one with a multipage solo frame (GROUP, H1, H2, H3, H4).

I wonder whether I'll need to use a Feedback function - which is something I have no idea of setting up as yet.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Hypernurd.

Hey,

why not just set the color channels to LTP and leave the dimmer channel HTP? That way dimming whole group and each fixture should work.

Hello Siegmund,

I tried that. Setting the RGB channels to LTP certainly gives me the correct colour hue but I am then unable to dim the heads. I don't know why mind you. I've tried using a fader in Sub-Master and Level modes - neither seems to work. Could it be conflicting with another control perhaps? I'm not sure how to bug-hunt this one....

Any help gratefully received. :)

I believe I may know the root of the issue, if not how to fix it.

I have a multi-page Solo frame. There are 5 pages; an 'ALL', H1, H2, H3, H4. Each page has another solo frame with the individual 'scene' buttons that set the colour. These are replicated on each page with cloned functions adjusted for the specific head. The 'dimmer' is on the 'All' page - not on the others. This is a SubMaster. Could it be that a submitter does not work across a multipage Solo frame? I've tried changing the behaviour to 'Level Mode' but this doesn't seem to work either.

Are you sure about your multi-page solo frame?
A function activated at page 3 does kill all other functions - solo frame behaviour...
