Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

I’m very new to QLC+, so bear with me if I’m being an idiot.

Also, I’ve searched the manual and done a search here, but can’t find a solution (if there is one please just post a link).

I’m trying to set up a midi controller to trigger function widgets in the virtual controller. My midi controller can send up to 8 messages at once, and I already use with it two pieces of hardware which are set to channels 1 & 2, so I thought ‘I’ll set QLC+ to channel 3’.

And here’s the problem...
I’ve setup the input and output midi channel as channel 3, and I’ve created a profile where I manually created 0 to 127 on channel 3 as program change buttons.

But, when I setup the function widgets in virtual controller the midi controller doesn’t trigger. If I try autodetect for the midi value it always selects the message sent on channel 1.

Is this a glitch, or is there another setting that i’ve missed?

(I can swap the midi channels of my devices around, so that qlc+ is channel 1, but that’s a bit of a ball ache)

Thanks,
Rich

Of course after posting I realised some more ways that I can test what is happening to try and track down the source of my problem.

I am going to install MIDI-OX on my PC to analyse the received midi data; to make sure I am actually sending what I think I am sending.

I know that my tech 21 midi mouse works as expected on midi channel one, so, I'll set it to channel 3 (for example) and see what happens there.

These two tests should highlight if the issue is with my boss es-5, with how I've setup QLC+, or somewhere in between.

If anyone has any other suggestions please chip in.

Thanks,
Rich
