Hello everyone!

My Dad and I have been using QLC+ for our corporate/wedding band lighting setup for a long time as well as our Halloween show, we just finally got around to taking a video of it. This is the first of 4 parts in the show.

Hi everyone :)

I would share with you my setup and my way to work. I'm dj so I don't have time to controling light, so I make an automatic mode.
I spend many hours on the qlc file...

I would to know how do you think of that? (and especialy the automatic mode I made)
- bad idea,
- good,
- excellent,
- ...

If it's no clear you can ask me question :)

Good weekend!
Thank you :)

Short behind the scenes clip while doing some remote LJing on private lighting equipment sending Artnet via a VPN connection to a friend's home and getting feedback via webcam. MIDI via RTP MIDI to ILDA was not established yet. Additional controls using a Korg nanoKontrol2 and nanoPad 2 (not visible in video). :ugeek:

Thingamagig is my Ardour- and QLC+-based lighting and effects project. It standardizes everything (levels, MIDI, lighting, plugins, etc) so that, if your computer is configured to Thingamagig, all you have to do is download the session, plugin in your guitar and mic, and press play.

No pedals. No amps. No external equipment. Just a guitar (and lights if you want them).

This and more sessions here: https://github.com/cyrusadkisson

Another Thingamagig demo. Still looking for people to give it a spin.

There are a couple of new features here:
  1. Pawn shop guitar I covered with AOL CDs back in the 90s.
  2. White “effects” (disco) lights on top of color “wash” looks cool.
  3. The trademark wah-ka-ka-ka-ka guitar sound from this song is done with a volume automation on the guitar track. Check out the session in my github below. Remember, Thingamagig is all live. No post-processing.
  4. Considering getting rid of the “frontman” lighting altogether. In this video, I just pointed the “wash” at myself.
  5. Getting better on vocals. Compression helps. Clearer monitoring helps. This is still a bit out of my (frustratingly limited) range.
-----------

Cyrus, thanks for sharing your work, but please do not hijack the community forum with multiple posts.
In case, create a new thread, explaining what Thingamagig is, and add all your videos to that (single) thread.
For now I placed your videos in this thread, which was created for the purpose.
Thanks

Made this show almost one year ago.
Fixtures used:
Stairville LED Bar 240/8
Showtec Phantom 130
Stairville MH100 Beam
and the normal front stuff.

The stage was pretty low and narrow, so it was difficult to setup the fixtures.

For controll i used
Enttec DMX USB Pro
Behringer X-Touch Compact (Midi-Controller)
21" Touch-Screen

Hope you like it :)

I was quite busy the last year creating this lightshow for my sisters wedding. Thanks to this wonderful forum and all the great support on QLC+!

Due to copyright reasons without audio.
Due to privacy reasons with pixelated center screen.

Video filmed in my living room where I build this show over the last year, but in the end, most parts where done in the last couple of weeks.
Broke down everything for transport, put up everything back together on location and run the show without any issues. :)

Tech used:

8x Lixada/No-Name/China "DMX PAR" Lights (left/right outer lights)
2x Eurolight 144px DMX Bar (top)
2x FunGeneration PicoWash 40 Quad (outer moving heads)
2x Lixada/No-Name/China "70W" LED Wash Moving Head (inner moving heads)
2x DIY LED matrix with 25x 3W MR16 warmwhite LEDs each, controlled over Artnet and WiFi (ESP8266, 2x PCA9685 16 Ch/10 Bit PWM-controller, 25 MOSFETs)
1x motorized disco ball
1x fairy lights around the heart shaped screen
1x 4 Ch. DMX dimmer for disco ball and fairy lights
2x BenQ 1080p FHD projectors for the "Laser" FXs
1x old Acer projector for the slideshow/videos on the heart screen
1x RasPi 3 B+ controlled over Artnet WiFi. Running Open Lighting Architecture scripts and mediaplayer for the video.
1x 700W DMX fog machine
1x ENTTEC DMX USB Pro adapter

DMX lights controlled with QLC+

I created a show, running the "laser" FXs as video track in the show.

Laser FXs created with a self coded program based on HTML5 and JavaScript.

Here's a video of our band using the raspberry pi image provided by QLC+. I use a Behringer FCB 1010. 4 Martin mh-2 and 2 Martin Thrill Profiles.

Great software, especiallythe Pi image!

Thanks!

Hey. Sorry to resurrect this. I was wondering what interface is driving the Led curtain. I know some of those have their own software but QLC is so much better. How is it setup inside QLC ?
Thanks

Hey.. so for all my Step LED sets .. we create individual steps like this:

- the steps are 8x64 matrix driven via QLC -> ArtNet -> Raspi -> Fadecandy -> WS2812
- there are 12 steps in a 3x4 configuration so using them all is 24x256 LED space
- Because each step is 8 rows * 64 columns * 3 channels = 1536 channels, and some boundary issues I setup each 2 rows as RGB Panels in their own universe of 384 addresses
- 4 universes combined for each step using fixture groups identifies a step looks like this: Image ( what's on the step is a test pattern we used to identify the steps )
- multiple step rows combined in different fixture groups to use groups of steps ( ALL, Bottom row, SL, SR, SC etc.. )
- then create "matrix" functions to display across the step groups as selected, here's an example of 3 steps: https://sandsite.org/downloads/evo-step-flag.mov

This takes a while to setup correctly.. but is VERY flexible on the stage and when designing scenes. QLC handles the MANY universes just fine, tho because the raspi-s are over 802.11 I have to use unicast ArtNET. My showfile is too big to include here, but you can get it at https://sandsite.org/downloads/Evo19-Full.qxw. This showfile uses LOTS of ArtNET and WILL spam your primary interface when you load it .. so disable the interfaces in input/output once you load it.. Questions/Comments encouraged!

I just started out with DMX and QLC+ and I made my first "timecoded" show.

Some of the lighting stuff is from Wish, Others from local stores (Like the laser)

Fun facts:
- This is my home DJ booth, i'm a (harder styles) DJ at heart but love to have a complete picture.
- It switches location every six months (Attic in the winter, Storage shed in the summer).
- This show is powered by a Macbook from 2014, with a Enttec Open DMX/USB connected to it.
- It wasn't planned to have "extreme" light show capabilities like this. The lighting grew on me.
- Other hardware in the booth: Pioneer XDJ-RX2, Pioneer PLX-500 (x2), Vonyx Monitor speakers (2*65Watt), Ibiza Sound PA set (1600Watt). PC setup with streaming capabilities (triple camera setup)

Enjoy the video!
