Strobe appearing slow

Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

So i have four cheap 4channel-pars in which i would like to create a strobe function. I created this by making a scene with all fixtures white and then another scene with all fixtures off. I then created a chases with these two scenes and have a speed dial for how fast it would hold. In the monitor this appears as a strobe but on the actual fixtures themselves it strobes very slow and not anything like the monitor. Does anyone know a solution.

-i am using an enttec usb open

Thank you!

Hi,

you have to coordinate
- QLC+ master frequency (50 hz by default)
- Enttec output frequency (44 hz?)
- your strobe frequency
- how fast the lights can react
to avoid "antialiasing" artifacts.
You can change the first two in settings outside ui. See help.

The location is written in paragraph 1 in the link Jano shared above!

Ok so I found the file and am confused as where to add the new paramaters.
Attached is a picture of what the text file looks like. Do I just make a new line?

In regards to the new paramater, I am trying to change the enttec usb open frequency to 25 instead of 30. Is this paramater correct?

<key>enttecusbopen.frequency</key>
<integer>25</integer>

Thank you.

I'm a Linux user and don't know much about MacOS. The QLC+ config file format and location differ between operating systems, and from your screenshot and googling "plist file" which brings up

https://fileinfo.com/extension/plist

it becomes clear that the file you show in the screenshot(starting is a binary plist file. That fileinfo page describes how to edit or convert such files into an editable format.

This did help and now i can edit the .plist but sadly nothing is changing still? I tried the killall command so that the .plist changes take effect but the enttec channels and frequency still stays at 512 and 30 respectively. Anyone have any other ideas on what could be the issue?

This is what my config file looks like. I used the killall terminal command but when I go into QLC+ the enttecusbopen frequency is still appearing as 30hz and the amount of channels is still 512. I just dont know what to do anymore because i've done everything that the paramater help says to do. Any ideas?

Why would you want to restrict the channel count to 128? I don't have enough technical knowledge to make claims but I doubt that any recent computer has bandwidth problems with the normal amount of 512 channel DMX data packets.

Also, why now set the openDMX to 25 Hz? that would mean slower strobe, not faster, Jano mentioned 44 Hz instead of 30, IIUC. And how do you check that the setting is in effect? Is there a way to see on what frequency the openDMX is actually running?

Finally, are you sure the edited file is copied back to the location where QLC reads it from? and did you convert back to binary plist, or use a dedicated editor and edit the file in place?

Sorry if I ask too obvious stuff, just trying to help! And as I said, I have hardly any experience with MacOS...

BTW about a year ago I programmed a strobe for an installation using LED striplight. I use a USB DMX Pro Mk2, which probably is faster than yours. The strobe worked pretty well at speeds up to an estimated 20Hz frequency, I think that's where the transmission speed was reached, that's just what many cheap LED PARs can do at most by themselves if they support strobing. And there was an occasional glitch/irregularity in the strobe frequency, not quite as constant speed as a hardware strobe...
