Hi,
I'm new to QLC+ and built a $10 USB to DMX box. I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong in QLC or the box is bad. Any help would be appreciated, at the moment, I'm simply trying to control the output of a Hazer for a show. The hazers DMX is set to channel 1, of Universe 0 by default. I selected the Hurricane Haze 2D in the fixtures menu, and I selected the FT232R USB UART in the inputs/ outputs and checked the output box. It is enabled on universe 1 by default, I can change the name to Universe 0, but I also didn't have any luck with that. Now in Simple Desk. It shows that I have control over the fan speed and the haze speed. I can move their sliders up to 255 and hit play, or ... I've clicked all over. The hazer is active and manually set to 0 Haze and 0 Fan speed. QLC+ should be forcing those new values. I watched the lengthy tutorials, but this isn't a moving head light and it is the only DMX device that I have out my house to test.
I've attached the project file to this for someone else to look at. Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

You have to understand that a 'universe' is one cable with max. 32 participants (fixtures) attached.
So your universe 0 vs universe 1 makes no sense. -> please study DMX standards (you'll need it anyway to debug your problem)
IMHO you are focused too much on the software... you should focus your attention to verify if your hardware is working correctly...
An oscilloscope could come in handy to verify if timing and pulse-trains are created correctly. When you know your hardware works all right, turn you focus back to the software.
Building something, connecting it, and starting software to see nothing is doing what you expect to see
Are DMX signals present at the hazer? I'm guessing: NO
If this would be a YES then we could help you with the software

He sort of correct about the 32 devices. You are talking about DMX channels / addresses and he about devices. Traditionally a device is allocated 16 addresses so 32 devices with 16 channels gets you 512 channels. Some light desks I've seen only allow addressing in increments of 16. In the end DMX is not more than RS 485 and is by default restricted to 32 (hardware) devices. (Where the QLC+ DMX interface counts as one)
In my field of architectural lightning, working with long lines, I came across enough troubles to respect what has been invented in the 80-ies. Same goes with terminating and using high numbered DMX addresses... unless you like stuttering pan and or shaking gobo's and flickering of all sort...
(and be aware that devices coming from the U.S. possible have pin 2 & 3 swapped but that is O.T.)
