Have you installed it in the same folder where QLC+ 4 is installed ?C:\QLC+\qlcplus-qml.exe
If so, please don't. Select a different folder.

Have you ever attempted to build QLC+ on that machine in the past ? In other words, do you have MSYS2 installed.
Cause that could be the cause.
Otherwise I ran out of ideas.
I'm pretty sure the Windows bundle is OK.

For those who
* use windows
* have ever installed MSYS2 (MSYS or MINGW...)
! (check existence of msys, msys2 or mingw directory)
Please uninstall using <administrative rights> !! The registry has to be altered
In my case I had
*MSYS64 installed
*inside c:\msys64
to uninstall MSYS2
use the
*c:\msys64\maintenancetool.exe WITH administrator rights ... (hint: if it doesn't do anything ... I told ya <admin rights>) feedback of success:

I just installed a new (old) laptop. Same laptop, Dell Latitude D630, installed a fresh copy of Win 7, upgraded to Win 10. Completely up to date.
2.6 Dual Core Processor
8gb Ram
1tb drive 7200 rpm
No other applications installed, not even a previous version of QLC+.
I got the same error as I did on my regular pc.
[log3 attached]
There is another informational message in log4.txt

Have you stated that QLCplus-qml has to be ran as administrator?
(right click - properties - run as administrator)
check your registry if this key is present in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
the key "C:\system\QLC5\qlcplus-qml.exe" should have value "~ RUNASADMIN"
Just tried it on a laptop which never saw QLC or MSYS2 - runs out of the box ...

@kenact
Or you are really struggling with 'rights'-problems or there may be a HW problem (drivers et al)
* uninstall all qlc's ever installed
* manually create a new directory - let's call it junk onto your 'C:\' drive
* change permissions to that junk directory so that 'everybody' has full rights <- oké dangerous I admit but hey ... trying to
* download and manually install (that is to say - right click onto the downloaded image and choose 'run as administrator')
* install into a c:\junk\qlc5 directory
* after install
* make sure the new QLC5 dir has full rights set to everbody
* and the qlcplus-qml.exe has the 'run as administrator' set (right click on the .exe - choose compatibility - 'run as administrator')
try
and report back
Good luck

I have followed all of the troubleshooting described herein... Alpha 1 nor Alpha 2 is loading on my Win10 install. Getting the qlcplus-qml.exe has topped working message which forces the application to quit.

I have a more robust pc:
Windows 10 Home x64
32gb RAM
2.40GHz, 6 Core, 12 Logical Processor
NVidia GeForce GTX 970
4gb Dedicated Video Memory
Doing a standard uninstall on QLC+ 4.11.1
Install QLC+5 as administrator, to default folder
Set up QLCPLUS-QML.exe to run as administrator
The programs runs, and I get the warning splash screen.
On my laptops:
Windows 10 Pro x64
8gb RAM
2.60GHz Dual Core Processor
Mobile Intel 965 Express video
Using the same process, with the added step of giving everyone Full Access Permission to the QLC+5 folder, the program crashes, as I stated in the previous posts in this thread.
If my current laptop hardware is not capable of running QLC+5, this will be a big problem for me. I run lights and sound in as many as 3 different theaters, simultaneously, and I use 3 Dell Latitude D630s running Windows 10 Pro x64.
I do have one D630 with an NVidia card, which I haven't tested yet, because it was running a show which just ended yesterday. I may be able to try that one today or tomorrow.

I am out of ideas about what can possibly cause these crashes.
Today I installed Alpha 2 on a Win 10 desktop with an Intel card that has never seen QLC+. No issue at all, and actually the 3D view was pretty smooth.

I wonder if it has something to do with available video memory. Three of my laptops have Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset. The Total Available Graphics Memory is 358 MB.
On the laptop with NVidia Quadro NVS 135M, has 4096 MB.
I just installed 5.0.0 Alpha2 on the D630 with the NVidia card, and I was able to run it. With the exception of the NVidia card, this laptop is identical to the D630s with the Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset.

Is this an argument to have the 3D visualisation as an option (or run swith -no3D)
When video memory is stale you can opt to not use the 3D... ???
