Hardware Abstraction Layer for Fixtures would be nice

Hello in my opinion a Hardware Abstraction Layer for fixtures would be very useful.
In my setup (and i think in many other setups too) the fixture pool has been enhanced over a long time.
So i have for example 5 different types of par lights. All have seven channels but one fixture has channel one as dimm
at another one dimm is on channel 7 and so on.
A HAL between the fixture und the gui would make life so much easier.
You where able to reroute all channels to virtual ones and so you could configure all fixtures the same way.
Exchange of fixtures would be much more easier too.
