Open Source Enttec Pro compatible interface

Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

Hi there.

I am building my own small QLC+ based system. The idea is to have a black box with power supply, Raspberry Pi, MIDI interface, DMX interface etc., so you just plug in power, DMX and MIDI, and off you go. For use with a Behringer FCB1010, Akai MPD16/24 etc.

I have built the first prototype, and it is working okay most of the time. But I have some DMX jitter now and then. Small dropouts. Light flickering a little and the like. I am using the Enttec Open DMX, and I have always had these small issues, whether I have used a powerful laptop with FreeStyler, Chamsys MagicQ or whatever. My conslusion is that I need a better DMX interface with its own processing.

I know that the Enttec Pro should cut it, but I would really like to build it myself, as I am building power supply PCBs etc. anyway, and I would like to make the box more complete and more compact. Plus, cost is also a factor. Programming a ATmega or similar should not be a problem. But I was wondering if there is no Open Source schematics and/or code for a proper interface with own processing out there? It looks like DMXking started as a Open Source project (http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums ... -protocol)) , but now has turned into a commercial project instead.

Can you guys recommend anything, or should I just start from scratch and try to reverse engineer the protocol spoken between QLC+ and the Enttec Pro interface?

Best regars,
Daniel

You may try: https://github.com/OpenLightingProject/ ... re/number1 https://www.openlighting.org/ole/number1/
I don't know anything more than what you can read there.

Edit: it is not enttec pro compatible

I recently spent a while looking at DMX interfaces. Two of them that I marked as "open source" in my notes are https://fx5.de/ and http://www.anyma.ch/research/udmx/ perhaps either of those is helpful to you (I haven't looked more closely at what parts are open or closed and what the quality of the design and code is).
