Want to try using a Linux system

Hi folks. I decided I was going to put Linux on a spare laptop I have and try running my DJ apps on it to see how it performs (QLC+, Virtual DJ, Quickshow). After doing some research I decided I wanted to try Linux Mint Cinnamon. But I don't see that as one of the choices in the download section. Since it based on Ubuntu do I use the Ubuntu version? Can I use QLC+ with Linux Mint?

Mint has been derived from Ubuntu, so it uses the same package system (deb)
You can use the official Linux packages
