Having bitten the bullet, got my DMX interface and begun learning to use QLC+, I have found a partial workaround to one of my needs - running several sound cues simultaneously. I have created several cue lists, in this case one for music tracks, one for overlay tracks and one for ambience tracks. It is a bit of a manumatic operation, but I can start the music tracks playing and let them sequence through. I can then use the changeover sliders to take the sound level down while I start the recorded announcement - in the overlay cue list - at the beginning of the show, and then slide the music fader back up to restore its level - see attached screenshot. I can also at the same time play an ambience track, using the slider to set its level, but there is an issue here.
If I try to loop the ambience track using the cue list settings, the next time round it comes back at full volume, ignoring the fader settings. My initial solution is just to re-save the track at a lower level, but it is difficult then to set levels on the night. I have the option of using Multiplay instead, and I would like to get QLC+ to control Multiplay, but Multiplay can only send MIDI, not receive.

Here QLC+ is running on Windows 7 64 bit. Because of the limitations of my old package my laptop is still Windows XP, but I will report back on how this scheme works there.

Thought for the future - extend the Audio functions to include level fade functions, pan functions etc - unless there is a way of doing this that I've missed!

Out of interest, for this small theatre I am operating 5 RGBW LED pars and 6 old Furse fresnels. The main colour washing and stage LX is with the LED's, while the Fresnels supply cross lighting with gels to help lift the performer's faces, no matter what colours I'm using on the LEDs. Once I'm a bit further along I'll start a thread about workflows, because the one thing I find about any software manual is that they all tell you what each individual function does, but not how you can use them together!

Put the cuelists into a frame and add a slider into this frame in submaster mode.

Hi Dave
You mentioned using Multiplay for your audio tracks but not being able to receive MIDI commands. How about using Multiplay to control QLC+?
I've successfully set up an audio driven show in Multiplay with MIDI triggers to control 4 JB Systems LED Spots in QLC+ with great results. Two of the lights are on 2 performers seated at microphones with 2 additional lights for mood. I also have a home made DMX controlled relay box for starting and stopping stage props. I'm currently using CTR Electronics's CSC Show Control program with a MIDI use license to do the same thing. It works extremely well, but Multiplay works just as well.
I responded to another member on the old QLC+ forum about a year ago explaining briefly how to use the MIDI commands in Multiplay to control QLC+.
See my post at the end of the thread at https://sourceforge.net/p/qlcplus/discu ... /b3757a30/
The screen shot attached is my old Multiplay project open with the QLC+ Que List active. As an example for you I've opened Multiplay's 1st cue properties which show the MIDI commands to trigger QLC+.
If you need more help, contact me and I'll try to assist.
I discovered QLC+ while searching blindly as a newbie for lighting software about 2 years ago and have been more than satisfied by it's ability to do what I wanted.
