Hi,

when i attach a sequence to a slider in the virtual console, the sequence loses it's fade-in times.
The sequence should be very smooth, but it's really choppy without fade-in times.
When i attach the same sequence to a button it works fine, but i want to have it on a slider to smoothly bring it in and out during a show.

I'm using 4.10.2b on Windows 10.

Hello,

This is a known issue:

https://github.com/mcallegari/qlcplus/issues/758

As a workaround, you can use a button attached to the function, associated to a slider in submaster mode.
This means: create a frame, add a button and a slider in the frame.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately the workaround doesn't work.
The sequence runs in full intensity all the time and light flickers when i move the submaster slider.

Can you share the workspace file please ?

I have reconstructed it in a new project. It just contains the one sequence and the frame with the butten and submaster slider in the virtual console.

Thank you. You found a bug :) I think it affects collections only, so until it's fixed, with a chaser you should be OK.

Thanks. It's kind of a workaround of a workaround now, but it works using a chaser. :)

And by the way, it would be really nice to have separate global fade-in and fade-out times for all functions, as you suggested in the bug report.

I've noticed that the workaround actually still doesn't work very well.

In order to control the chase with a slider, the chase has to be running all the time.
But there is another bug with chasers and submaster:

If you have a chaser running with the submaster at 0% the chaser still cuts off fade out times of other scenes running on the same channels.

It seems to me, that qlc+ doesn't handle fade times of steps in sequences, chasers and matrixes very well.
They should be encapsulated in the function and should not be affected by anything else.
Also they should only fade between steps and not at the start and end of the function.
Additionally each function should have fade times that fades the whole function in and out.

I know that this might be a major change in the code of qlc+, but it should be seriously considered for version 5.

I don't understand what you mean by this.

This I agree with

It's in my todo-list, but I don't know when I'll be able to do this.

In fact the chase always cuts the fade out time, even without the submaster.

I've made a simple workspace that demonstrates the problem.
The Full On Scene should always fade out smoothly. But when the chase is running the fade out times will get overwritten by the chase.

OK Thanks I see what you mean. Looks like you discovered another bug :(

See the attached workspace for yet-another-workaround involving loopback.

Your workaround is a nice trick, but it wouldn't work in my setup.
I've noticed this, because it was affecting my music synced shows. Replacing all the fade out times in the sequences of all shows would be way too much.
But i don't even need a workaround anymore. The event was last weekend. Actually i noticed it during the event.

The event went smooth anyway. QLC+ did a great job. Thanks for your help, and for your work on QLC+. I'm sure i couldn't have done it with any other software.
