Hi Massimo and Team.
I hope you are all well and prepared for Christmas.

I was messing about with OSC this evening and making the sliders move on the virtual console with my Android phone using Android OSC (a free OSC from the play store***)

I noticed that the virtual console sliders moved up when i slid my OSC slider (on the phone) down.
I checked the 'Invert' radio button in the slider properties on the virtual console but the properties didn't change to inverted function. (ie, nothing changed)

just thought i'd let you know. I'm not sure if this is QLC, Rick** or androidOSC issue.

:-)

***please note, this is a reasonable OSC to use, but it has a habit of making all the sliders the same address. you ,must rename ALL the sliders you create in this OSC package to make it work with QLCplus. This is not a fault of QLCplus and is a fault of android OSC. Nonetheless, this is a nice package to use once you've done that. I use the 'auto detect' option in QLCplus virtual button/slider properties to address each fader/slider/button.

** Please also note that I don't really know what I'm doing... ;-)

Many thanks.

Are you sure that the value of the slider isn't changing?

Although the physical direction of the virtual console slider doesn't change, the value that it is outputting should become inverted ;)

Exactly.
Move a non-inverted slider with the mouse and look at the value of the slider. 255 on top, 0 at the bottom.
Invert it, move it with the mouse -> 0 on top, 255 at the bottom.

Then android OSC is sending inverted values.

PS- I can't find "Android OSC" on the play store

Good point!
The dmx values are inverted.
It is the 'physical' direction which doesn't invert.

I hadn't looked at actual dmx values (even though they are clearly positioned at the top of a slider)

In order to make this behave as expected there are settings inside android osc which can be adjusted.

Thanks for your time fsxfoulder and plugz and apologies for being silly.

Android osc is on Google play. It called AndrOSC. The dev is called ahmetkizilay.
Hope that helps.

Hi Plugz,
Did you have any joy using AndrOSC?

In the live scenario I found it to be laggy which was frustrating. sometimes i would tap a virtual button on the phone, it would flash to acknowledge a tap, but nothing would happen in QLCplus, if I tapped the same button again then it would work ok... this didn't happen everytime though. sometimes it just worked fine.

I don't know if this is a network issue, a phone setting issue, an AndrOSC, a PC issue..... etc etc....

In conclusion... This isn't a solution for me.
Next I will try web interface and see what happens with that.

All the best everyone.
