I'm not sure when this one popped up, but it's no longer possible to sort the Functions by name when adding them to a collection. I'm sure that's an easy fix, but it's a bit difficult to see what's going on when the collections get big.

I think I've made that change.
Sorting in a Collection doesn't make sense.
The order of Functions is fundamental, especially when you have HTP channels involved.
So it's not really a bug. It makes clear the concept of run order in a Collection

@mcallegari
Ah, I see. I wasn't aware that collections worked in that manner. I would have expected HTP to be based on the contents of the collection (for example the scenes in that collection) as opposed to the order that they are listed in the collection. It would seem counterintuitive to me if (just for example, since I wouldn't really see this happening in my scenario, at least) two scenes, one with a channel value of 255 and one with a channel value of 1, the scene with the channel value of 1 would override the scene with the value of 255 because it was lower in the collection. To me, that wouldn't really be representative of how HTP works.
Nevertheless, if that is how it is supposed to work, then shouldn't there be a way to reorganize the entities inside of a collection? Perhaps an up/down arrow?

That would indeed make sense and can be added.gmint wrote:Nevertheless, if that is how it is supposed to work, then shouldn't there be a way to reorganize the entities inside of a collection? Perhaps an up/down arrow?
To give you an example of the importance of Functions order in a Collection: a Scene animated by a EFX in relative mode works only if the Scene is the first position of the Collection and the EFX the second. Not the other way around.

Gotcha. I do use this and I believe I've inadvertently run into this not working (likely for this very reason in the past).mcallegari wrote:gmint wrote: To give you an example of the importance of Functions order in a Collection: a Scene animated by a EFX in relative mode works only if the Scene is the first position of the Collection and the EFX the second. I would also like to add that it would be tremendously useful to have up/down arrows in collections. I find myself using quite a bit of my time deleting and re-adding functions just to reorder collections.

Agreed (especially now I fully understand how this works ) As I mentioned elsewhere, while I think collections are about the greatest thing since sliced bread, I do still find it challenging to avoid adding conflicting functions and/or forgetting to add various channels to a collection on occasion.forresthopkinsa wrote:I would also like to add that it would be tremendously useful to have up/down arrows in collections. Yeah, in one of the venues I work in, we use the software in a way that necessitates the use of 20+ functions in each collection. So it quickly becomes a nightmare reordering those.
