Hi everyone !
i'm using QLC+ with my Elation Midicon for about 6 months now and i've still the pages issue.
Let me explain :

The midicon has 16 pages for playback and 16 others for memories.
If i create a solo or normal frame in QLC, add 16 pages with circular scrolling and assign the corresponding buttons on my midicon, everything is working perfectly : i can change the pages on the soft with my midicon !
But ! because there's a but ;) , If i change the page by clicking on the buttons on the software, the pages on the midicon does not change and stay at 1.

This is quite awful since it desorganise everything and the soft and the controller are no longer sync, which is very nice when you're live

I've read a thread about that and i really expected that it would be corrected in the very good 4.10 version but the issue is still there !

I think it's just a midi feedback issue, no big deal !

If someone knows a way to make it work i'll really appreciate !

Have a nice night

Thomas

First stupid question: did you enable MIDI feedbacks ? :)
And does the MIDIcon support them ?

Maybe QLC+ is just not sending them to the correct channel. Have you tried to play with the MIDI channel ?
Sometimes you need to send to the OMNI channel (in QLC+ channel 1-16)

Hey !
Not stupid :D
Yes of course I forgot to mention it but midi feedback is enabled !

The midicon is supporting them since I can control the blackout led with the blackout button in qlc.

I've configured the midicon with channels 1-16 in Control Change, is that omni channel ?

Thanks for your replied

Hi, have you seen this http://www.elationlighting.com/pdffiles ... manual.pdf
Page 9 and onwards.

Apparently most of the messages are expected on MIDI channel 1 and by using Notes, not Control Change.

Please spend a little bit more of time on that and let us know the results

Thomas,

one problem here is that there are two paging systems that we need to synchronize or even better, to disable one of them :)
As I understand it, after you use page up/page down keys, midicon sends data on different channel depending on current page.
QLC+ on the other hand may expect them on the same channel. Can you post your qxw so that we can see how did you setup the buttons?

It wouldn't be hard to add page number feedback to frames, so they would trasmit current page number. In you case, that would be CC10/CC11 or CC12/CC13.
As written in the manual, CC10/CC11 switch also page on the controller, but need to transmit the message on proper MIDI channel - which is not easy in the current QLC+ code.
CC12/13 are transmitted always on channel 1 and do not switch midi channel.

Let's try the easier way - try to avoid midicon paging and use the QLC+ one:
- start with midicon on the first page.
- patch a dimmer channel on your MIDIcon universe at address 12
- assign a VC slider (set max value to 198) to this channel
- try to move it -- playback page number on midicon should change
- do your faders still work?

Do the same with address 13 and memory buttons.

If this works, you'll get up to 99 pages :)

I've try what you've told me and i just can't understand what's going on !!
As you'll see in the .qlw file, i've set up pages.
I'm actually able to change the value on the midicon with the fader but it does not seems to allow me to have multiple pages of playbacks.

I've also tried with the memory but no success, (maybe i'm a little dumb  )

I'm really curious and i don't know how that works :)

Anyway, if this works in the end, will it mean that i won't be able to use the midicon page up/down buttons to switch pages ?

thanks for your time !

Let's try once more:

[note: I've updated midicon profile - it's attached. I've added playback page down button, and virtual sliders for page leds]

First, some info from manual: when you switch pages, the values are transmitted on different midi channel (equal to page number).
Page number is transmitted and received as CC10, CC12. CC10 changes page on the controller, CC12 not (only the LED number changes).
It also says that once program sets number, controller will stop managing it.

What I am looking for is:
1. when you set led number using CC12, will the controller still use different channels or will transmit everything on channel 1?
2. when you set led number using CC10, will QLC+ still recognize faders input on different channels?

I've created a workspace for you.
Please, first: delete both page faders (CC10 and CC12), restart both qlc+ and midicon and check if you can switch pages using midicon, and that faders on all pages work.

Then, get fresh copy of the workspace, delete only CC12, restart qlc&midicon and move the CC10 fader in QLC+. Does the page number change?
Adjust page in VC with the VC prev/next buttons so that page in VC is aligned with page in midicon. Do the faders on midicon move the faders in VC in all pages?

What I'm trying to do with CC10 is to emulate page number feedback from the frame -- since it is not implemented, you have to do it manually. When it works, we'll add it to QLC+.

Finally, do the same test this time with fader CC12.

If you have something to log MIDI messages (Win: midi ox, linux: amidi): start QLC+, move CC10 fader, close QLC+, start logging, go to page > 1, move fader
again the same with CC12.

Enough for today :)
