Changing Packet size

I am using a weird LED tape controller that can't seem to tolerate a DMX packet of more than 50 channels. I know there is a way to adjust the packet size with the Enttec Pro dongle driver config files, but I have also seen information on this for Q Light +. Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

I am using Q Light on a Mac running Lion.

You can set the number of channels on Enttec Open, but you can't on Enttec Pro.

The Enttec site shows some driver modifications that are supposed to work, but they say it is software dependent as well. This is a problem.
